CHAPTER 20 - Mates All Around

*THE FOLLOWING DAY*   *Nova’s P.O.V.*       The arrival time for Alpha Kai and former Alpha Regis was scheduled for 10:00 AM which was less than five minutes away, so Kane and I, along with Betas Gunther and Brielle and Gammas Jax and Aileya.     Kris was instructed to stay in the conference room and the only way she would listen was with both of us using our Alpha and Luna voices on her. I could almost hear her pacing back and forth in the conference room in excitement.     Two black SUVs pulled up, and from the first one, out stepped what I assumed to be two guards and Alpha Kai. From the second one out stepped the former Alpha Regis and two more guards.     All six of the men stepped up to the porch and Kane and I met them halfway.     “Ah, the now former Alpha Regis, it’s so great to see you,” Kane greeted as they shook hands. The former Alpha then shook my hand.     “And the now Alpha Kai, it’s so great to meet you,” Kane said as he shook both our hands.     “Likewise, he responded with a smile on his face.     I dropped the block so I could listen to his thoughts even though I knew I probably shouldn’t. He was excited and nervous. And then, out of nowhere, he began sniffing the air.     Mate! Mate! Mate! She’s here, our mate is here! I could hear his wolf going insane inside his head.     I put the block back up and observed Alpha Kai sniffing the air intently while looking around to find the source of the scent. This didn’t go unnoticed by any of us, including Alpha Kai’s father.     “Son?” the former Alpha asked.     “I can smell her. Ignisio is going crazy. But I don’t see her.”     While they talked, I was watching the guards as two of them were also sniffing the air intently. They were both young, in their early 20s. Just as Heather Bardawulf, Roman and Samara’s daughter walked by, one of them growled, “Mate,” and strode over to her quickly.     She had been walking with her face in a book, but as soon as the guard was next to her, she stopped dead in her tracks and sniffed the air as a smile spread across her face. Her saying the word “mate,” was all it took for the guard to pull her to his side.     “Delta Rowen!” Alpha Kai scolded, but he couldn’t help the smile on his face that gave him away.     “Sorry, Alpha Kai,” Delta Rowen said, hanging his head and releasing Heather to walk back over to his post behind the Alpha. Heather followed behind him, her book long forgotten, and wrapped her arm around his waist.     The other young Delta was still sniffing the air intently until his gaze landed on Nola Perkins. “Mate,” he whispered, but stayed behind the former Alpha.     “Did you just say, ‘mate?’” Alpha Kai asked, and he nodded, motioning with his head towards Nola, who had stopped about 1000 feet away and was sniffing the air now.     Her gaze landed on the young Delta. She c****d her head and looked at me, as if asking permission to approach. I nodded at her and she walked towards us, stopping behind the young Delta, who froze as he sensed her very close behind him.     “Mate,” she said with certainty in her voice.     “Alpha, if I may…” the young Delta began, but Alpha Kai stopped him and nodded.     “Yes, Delta Conrad,” was all he said.     Delta Conrad turned around and enveloped Nola into a hug. “Mate,” he growled back.     “Alpha Kai, it seems we have a bit more to discuss than originally planned, and this involves two of my Deltas as well,” Kane said.     Alpha Kai nodded, still sniffing the air trying to find the source of the scent.     “We’ll have the omegas show you to your rooms and then they’ll bring you to the conference room where we will be waiting,” I told the six men, and they nodded. “Heather, Nola, please come with us to the conference rooms,” I instructed them, and they nodded.     We led them into the packhouse where Alpha Kai’s sniffing only became more intense. Two omegas came up to us and led the six men up to their guest rooms on the third floor using the elevator.     Nola and Heather followed Kane and I up to the conference room where Kris, Kylie and Kaiden were waiting.     Deltas Roman and Samara, please meet us in conference room one, I mind linked them.     Yes, Luna, they replied.     A few minutes later, Deltas Roman and Samara knocked on the door and I let them in. Looks of concern crossed their faces when they noticed Heather in the room.     “What’s going on?” Delta Roman asked.     “It’s nothing bad, no need to be worried,” I said vaguely.     There was another knock at the door, and I stepped in front of Kris as Kane grabbed her hand as the door opened and Kris began to sniff the air intently as a smile spread across her face when the door opened fully, revealing the former Alpha and Alpha Kai and their Deltas.   *Kris’s P.O.V*       Mate! Mate! Mate! Nissi was shouting in my head as she pranced around.     “Alpha Kai, this is Kristana, my sister. She goes by Kris, though,” my brother said.     The god of a man that Kane referred to as Alpha Kai was staring at me just as I was staring at him. He had dirty blonde hair that came to the nape of his neck and piercing grey eyes. He was almost as tall as my 6’6” brother; I’d say he was probably around 6’4”.     He was dressed in a short-sleeve button up dress shirt with the top three buttons unbuttoned and black slacks on. With the short sleeves of his shirt, you could see the bulging muscles of his arms that strained against the sleeves. He had a manly earthy scent along with the smell of fresh rain. “Mate,” I uttered out, and his eyes widened.     “Kai?” an older man said, and Kai broke our gaze to look to the older man.     “Yes, Dad?” he asked.     Dad? Ah, the older man must be former Alpha Regis. I could definitely see the resemblance.     “Is that her? Is that the scent you were smelling earlier?”     He nodded. “Apple cinnamon,” he said as a smile spread across his face before his wolf surfaced and growled, “Mate.”     “Kane, Nova, please,” I begged, wanting nothing more than to cross the room and breathe in his amazing scent.     Kane released my hand and Nova stepped out of the way, and Kai crossed the large conference room in 3 long strides before he was standing next to me.     “Mate,” he repeated, but it wasn’t his wolf this time, it was him. Goddess, his voice was sexy. It was a deep bass but also sounded like music to my ears. It made me wet instantly, and as he took his next breath, his eyes darkened with lust when he smelled my arousal.     I reached my hand out and took his hand in mine. The sparks that I felt were nothing like I imagined they were going to be. They were strong, almost like electricity flowing between us wherever our skin touched.     “Well, I guess that proves your theory, former Alpha Regis,” my brother said with a smile on his face.     “Just Regis, please, Alpha Kane,” he said as he returned the smile. “And I’m glad to have been right. All I want for my son is happiness and a long life. As for me, plenty of grandkids is all I ask,” he said, chuckling.     I felt my face flush and glanced at Kai, whose face was also flushed, before staring at the ground like it was the most interesting thing in the room.     “Hey now, this is my baby sister you’re referring to,” Kane said in a light tone. Then he glanced at the four men dressed in black before turning to Deltas Roman and Samara.     “Delta Roman, Delta Samara, I called you in here because your daughter has found her mate among these four men. Deltas, I believe them all to be,” he said, and Regis nodded in confirmation.     “Delta Rowen?” Kane said, and one of the four men stepped forward, bowing at him and then at Heather’s parents before outstretching his hand to shake Delta Roman’s hand.     Delta Roman looked him up and down before nodding and shaking his outstretched hand. “Well, I guess I couldn’t ask for a better pack for my Heather to be going to. And she’ll have Kris there with her. Those two are usually joined at the hip,” he said, smiling at Delta Rowen.     Delta Rowen let out a breath he probably wasn’t aware he had been holding. “Thank you, Deltas Roman, Samara. I promise Heather will be well taken care of and loved dearly.”     Deltas Roman and Samara nodded. “Take care of our little girl,” Delta Roman said, and Rowen nodded.     “I will,” he promised, bowing to them.     Heather walked over to Rowen, and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer and inhaling her scent.     “Nola, your parents should be here any minute now,” Nova told her, and she just nodded in response.     Not two minutes later, there was a knock on the door and Kane opened it, stepping aside for Nola’s parents to come in.     “Macie, Derek, we called you in here because, well… your daughter has found her mate in one of the Silver Lake Deltas,” Nova said. They gasped but didn’t say anything.     “Delta Conrad?” Nova asked, and the other younger Delta of the four stepped forward.     “Thank you, Luna Nova. Mrs. Macie, Mr. Derek, I’m Delta Conrad of the Silver Lake pack. Although I’m young, I’m one of the strongest Deltas in the pack. I promise Nola will be well taken care of, protected, and most importantly, loved,” he said, bowing to them as Delta Rowen had with Heather’s parents.     “Mr. and Mrs. Perkins and Mr. and Mrs. Bardawulf, as you know, it is the females that go to their mate’s pack usually. They will be going with Kris because she is, in fact, Alpha Kai’s mate. They will not be alone in this transition. They will, however, be leaving in three days’ time,” Alpha Kane said to them.     Both sets of parents nodded, holding back tears of joy and sadness all in one. Heather went to her parents and Nola to hers, and both sets hugged their daughters tightly for a few moments before letting them go to their respective mates.     My parents came over to me then and pulled me into a hug as Kai let go of my hand. I whimpered at the loss of contact but hugged them back just as tightly.   *Nova’s P.O.V.*       After everyone left the conference room and went their separate ways, Kane and I went to Dr. Reid’s office for what would probably be our final ultrasound, though Kane wasn’t aware of that fact.     I had done research based on Selene’s visit to me in my sleep and found out the January full moon would be on the sixth, which meant I was going to be giving birth a few days before my due date, but I wasn’t worried this time.     We entered Dr. Reid’s office and she took us back immediately. I lifted up my shirt and tucked it under the bottom of my bra and rolled the top of my leggings down a little. She squirted the gel onto my abdomen and placed the transducer onto the pile of gel, spreading it around before she looked at the screen.     I watched the TV screen across from the bed as my babies appeared on screen one by one. They were too big to be able to see at the same time now, for obvious reasons.     Dr. Reid did her standard checks and confirmed that both were healthy and could be born any day now, especially due to Kylie Leigh’s larger size. While Kaiden’s growth had slowed and he was now considered normal size, Kylie had continued growing at the same growth rate, making her larger than her brother already.     Dr. Reid printed of the ultrasound pictures, wiped my abdomen of the gel, and told us she’d see us next time. I fixed my clothes and Kane and I left the office hand in hand as we headed back into the packhouse for dinner.     A toast was made for Kris and her new mate, as well as for Heather and Nola and their mates. The other two Deltas were sitting at the table eating when the front door of the packhouse opened and they both froze with their forks raised to their mouths.     “Mate,” they said at the same time as Amirah and Emberly walked into the dining room sniffing the air. They each locked eyes with one of the Deltas and said “Mate,” at the same time as well.     I looked at Kane who just shrugged and made another toast to newfound mates and new love as Amirah went up to Arjun and Emberly went to Edison.
