Dual-Wielder

Rest days, are the only days when a student can only enjoy themselves and have fun. Rai was wandering in the market, and Gaia was absent for a week for gathering information

"That guy will be hungry after a week of gathering information."

He walked into a meat stall, Rai bought three kilos of pork. After paying he headed back to the inn. He'll have the chef cook it for Gaia.

On his way back, a group of people was tailing him. They wore casual clothes in disguise. Rai knew he was being tailed so he did not act as usual. He took the dark alley route, only a handful of people are using this route, it is a walk-at-your-risk kind of route. The suspicious group did not know Rai knew that they were tailing him.

Rai walked into the dark alley, and the group of people followed him. But to their surprise Rai was not there, they swore they saw him walk that way.

"Where the hell did he go?"

One of the suspicious persons said. The others looked around trying to find traces of Rai.

"Looking for me?"

A voice came from above, and the oil from the pork started to drip on their shoulders. They looked above them and saw Rai floating in mid-air.

"What the hell?! This guy can fly?!"

"A dual-wielder?!"

The sight startled the group.

"That's impossible, according to our intel he only uses lightning type!"

"Then how do you explain that s**t?!"

The group started to fight amongst themselves.

"You guys got some balls to follow me all the way here just to fight amongst yourselves?"

Rai said while slowly descending a little further away from them.

"s**t! I knew they could not be trusted!"

A middle-aged man said while throwing his hood on the ground.

"Shut it, it is too early to say it is over"

Another man persuaded him.

"Hey kid, be a good boy and die for us will you?"

He said while he unsheathed his sword, the others saw him and started to draw their weapons as well.

"I'll pass, I still got a lot of work to do"

Rai declined his request with a funny gesture, swinging his hands at them while shaking his head.

"Give me that boy's head!"

An older guy demanded from his comrades.

"Then you will go down first"

Rai said without a hint of hatred towards them. The older guy thought it was a joke and laughed at Rai.

"Hahaha, how are you going to do tha-"

"Thud!"

The unfinished sentence startled the others, they were charging toward Rai when the older guy fell and stopped in their tracks.

"Hey, geezer! What happened to you?!"

The middle-aged man shouted at him.

The older guy could not move his body.

"I can't move, my consciousness is fadin-"

The older guy fainted, this startled them yet again.

"Hey what did you do to him?!"

"What the f*****g hell was that?! Nobody saw him use his concentration!"

"Calm down idiots, this is what he wants."

"f**k you! You saw that guy fell without even the need for the kid to move, how the hell are we going to counter that?!"

The enraged guy pointed at their fainted comrade.

"You don't, you will not see it coming"

The moment Rai spoke up, chills went running down their spines, and their faces were dripping from too much sweat. The others started shaking.

"That is it! I'm out of here!"

Said someone as he began to turn around and run away from that place.

"Hey! Come back!"

He only made four steps and then collapsed on the ground a few meters away from the fainted older guy.

"s**t! Anyone saw him do a thing?!"

They were starting to panic as another one of their comrades fell victim to Rai's mysterious ability.

"I didn't see s**t!"

Rai sighed as the sight of mature men in front of him were in panic.

"Who sent you?"

Rai asked in his casual tone. The others looked at each other.

"Like hell, we'll tell you"

The other man answered, that he was afraid of Rai but persisted against Rai.

"Then I guess, I will have to reduce your numbers a little."

The others started to fall on the ground like logs. Only two were left standing.

"s**t, s**t, s**t. f**k, f**k!"

"We are dead, that piece of s**t"

The other guy started to spew curses at Rai and the other one started to curse his current situation. Rai slowly walked toward them, and both of them started to back off.

Rai approached the guy who spewed curses at him and asked.

"For the last time, I'll ask you again. Who sent you?"

His voice this time was a little different, his serious tone was way different than his casual tone, but the guy still kept his persistence.

"I'm not telling you s**t-"

"Guah!"

The guy didn't get to spew curses at Rai when he pierced the curse-spewing guy at his chest. Lightning surrounded Rai's arm. His hands went through the guy's body.

"Thought so as much"

Rai said in such a cold voice, the sight gave another shiver to the guy beside them. He saw how his comrade was killed with ease and without any doubt. The hairs on his body stood up the moment Rai faced him.

"f**k, f**k, s**t"

"I hope you make the right choices in life, and right now is the best example of it."

He took a second look at his fallen comrade and faced Rai. He swallowed his spit and begged Rai.

"Please do not kill me, I have a sick mother to take care of"

"It depends on the choices you make right now"

Tears started to flow from his eyes. Rai saw him weep without holding back, his snout was dripping from his nose.

"Are you going to answer my question?"

"I will but can you promise me one thing first?"

"You don't get to ask me for anything, I'm the one doing the asking here"

The guy kneeled at Rai's feet trying to persuade him.

"Please, you must. If words go to them that I revealed their names. My mother would be in danger"

Rai saw his persistence and decided to listen to him.

"Do you love your mother that much?"

The guy did not answer he only wept a lot more.

"I oww my mother so much, so much that even if I were to die taking care of her will not be enough to repay my debt. So I beg you, please promise me that you will save her from them."

Rai was touched by his love for his parent.

"I promise, now answer my question"

The guy stood up and revealed his face dripping with sweat and tears, his snout was even hanging from his lips. His face was covered in sand.

"The one who paid us to do this is from the Vanity guild, that is all I know"

"Ah!"

Rai raised his hands, the weeping guy cowered down. Fearing that Rai would pierce him like how he did to his fallen comrade.

"That's all I know!"

But to his surprise, Rai raised his hand to scratch his chin.

"I had a hunch that they were the ones behind this"

"Please keep your promise to me"

Rai looked at him, he raised his arms yet again. The guy closed his eyes, accepting his fate. But he felt Rai's hands on his shoulder.

"I'm not the one who will look after her, it should be you"

The joy was showing on the guy's face as he heard what Rai said.

"Thank you, thank you"

He groveled again, thanking Rai for sparing him. These guys are mercenaries that the Vanity hired to try and eliminate Rai.

"They already paid you did they not?"

Rai asked as he handed a handkerchief to the guy.

"They only paid in half, the other half will only be paid off if the mission was completed."

He answered as he looked down.

"Hmm, seems like you guys already took your shares. Take the money from their bodies, and bring your mother to this inn"

Rai handed him a paper with the inn's name written on it.

"Tell the innkeeper, Rai sent me here and asked you to wait at the house in the forest near that inn, she will show you the way"

Rai instructed the guy, as he started to pile up the bodies. The guy took the money from their pouches and pockets.

"What about you? What are you going to do?"

"We'll talk if we meet there"

"I know this is too late, but I am Paul Balir."

Paul offered his hand to Rai, and Rai shook his hand.

"I am Rai Raze, though I know that you knew me already"

"Thank you, Rai, I will not forget this"

Paul started to grovel but Rai stopped him

"You groveled a lot today, stop that habit of begging others so easily. Do you have no pride?"

Paul stood up and answered.

"I don't care about my dignity, as long as I can take care of my mother, anything works."

"Let us talk later, go. Before someone sees you."

"Thank you"

Paul left in a hurry, trying to cover his face when he left the alley.

Rai disposed of the bodies, he scattered them all over the forest so that no one can find them easily. He killed the others who fainted and scattered their blood in the alley where their bodies fell.
