The materializer beam released Nick and he collapsed to the transport chamber floor, his breathing coming is gasps and his head pounding. Looking around he saw the rest of the squad had also been transported to wherever this was.
"Hello, Nicky," said a very familiar voice.
Looking in the direction of the voice, Nick saw someone standing at the control consol. It was Asia Call gazing back at him. Her brow wrinkled, concern registering in her coal black eyes. She stepped away from the console and hurried to his side; crouching beside him, she laid one hand on his right arm.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Thanks, Asia. " His eyes traveled across his friend’s wrinkled features and her intense, intelligent eyes. "From all of us."
