You are so disappointing

June, His finger rested on the top of my lips, and my legs weakened, the tingling feeling on my stomach just at the feel of his hand, made me press my legs tightly together. I swallowed the second he took a step back and straightened up his suit. I stood with a heavy chest, my arms that had slipped off his shoulders, wrapped around my body. I bit the corner of my lips watching him take his shirt and put it in a nylon bag he found on the side of the bed. “I think that’s all.” I hummed, completely flustered. “When will you be ready?” I rubbed the back of my neck and exhaled, “By Monday, and every document is ready.” “I’ll send a driver to pick you up.” “You don’t—“ He was already at the door, flung it open, and stepped out. I was so close, close enough for him to touch me, I couldn’t believe I was pulling towards him like that, which was something I shouldn’t have done but each time it was him, I had no control over my thoughts or actions. I just foolishly let my emotions control me, and that’s just what happened. The weekend, I was traveling to my father at Bloodhound Pack, because he had already made arrangements for me to come home, and there I would inform him of my medical training which would be of help to my skills. Ariana was excited that I was coming to the pack, I doubt she had any idea that her father had made the arrangements. “You’re home, June.” I stared at my teenage brother on his phone while he held the door. He was almost as tall as me, though he was just thirteen. He has blonde curly hair and blue eyes, the more I stared at him, the more I saw a striking resemblance to my mom. “It’s been a while, I thought you were never coming back home.” “I didn’t run away,” I shoved him aside, taking a step into the house, “and I will just be home this weekend, I’m going back by Monday.” “I do feel like you are running away,” he slammed the door, and put his headset on. “I was playing a video game, I’m just going to continue.” “Where is Dad?” “He won’t be back till night,” he halted and turned to stare at me. “I didn’t see him around.” I raised a brow at him. “Who?” “Your boyfriend.” I rolled my eyes. “I guess Dad didn’t tell you, we are no longer together.” He clicked his tongue. “Well, it did last long enough.” “I read it somewhere that you might be mateless.” I threw a plastic cup from the table at him, but he dodged and smirked. The house has always felt different, it was much colder and lacked warmth. The family portrait was still on the wall, and the four-seater chairs surrounded a middle table. There was a record player close to the end of the wall, and the wooden stairs, which had five rooms in it. Mom used to have one for her business whenever she was home. The room has been locked for years. My hand trailed over the wooden railings while I made my way upstairs. My room was still the same, only cleaned, some of the dresses I had outgrown, my broken mirror was changed, and I never knew Dad got a new one. I dropped my bag close to the wardrobe and decided to change into something else. “Good to see you.” I heard a voice behind me and I turned slowly. “I was preparing dinner, it will be ready in a minute.” “I will freshen up.” I nodded at him, my father was of an average height, and the same with my mom, he was muscular, with brown hair, almost red eyes, and wide lips, his skin was tanned, I had always gotten, “You look like your Dad.” Compliments but I can’t remember the last time I saw him smile. He had been so buried in work and had lost himself in it, but he was never the type to admit it. “You got home late, it’s almost 8.” “I have to work.” He retorted. He stayed in the kitchen for a second, as if he was wondering what he was going to do to me. Then he left without a word. We didn’t say a word to each other at dinner, our gaze was on our meal, waiting for who was going to say the first words. “The pack is having the annual mating ritual tomorrow night, you should be there,” Dad said as he cleared his throat. “Why should I be there?” “I’m too old for that,” I replied, dropping my fork on the table. “You are going to be there and that’s final.” “Is that why you wanted me to come home?” “It just happened you came home with someone at your side, do you know what happened to mateless wolves?” “Nothing is going to happen to me.” “That’s why you have to go there.” “It’s for eighteen years old, I think you’ve forgotten how old I am.” “It has no age limit from eighteen above, I didn’t bring you up to be this stupid, June. You never went to any mating ceremony in the pack, you won’t be in this mess right now.” I scoffed, “What mess?” “You can’t keep a mate.” “Ralph was gay, how the f**k was I supposed to keep him?” I flared up, and he lifted his head from his meal. “Juma, go to your room.” He ordered. He pushed his chair backwards, taking his plate upstairs, leaving me alone with him. He crossed his arms over the table, his gaze hard at me. “And the two others? Were they gay too?” “I..I.,” arguing with him was a lost cause and I couldn’t start that right now. “Why are you so worked up about me finding a mate?” “They might think something is wrong with you,” He responded with a tight lip. “Who cares?” “Why do I need validation from those people in your pack? They don’t get to define me or choose who I want to spend the rest of my life with!” “I wish Mom were here, I wish you worked so hard to find her,” My words came out of my mouth hard, landing a hit right at my Dad’s face. “And I want you to know that I already have someone, and I won’t attend any of those rituals.” His voice was low when he spoke, “Who?” “That made you think I never tried hard to find your mother, I never expected those words from you, June, I didn’t send you to a medical school for this. You keep on disappointing…”
