Some Daddy Issues

June. “This is where I want this piece to be…” Ariana said with a smile. “I just can’t wait for the exhibition, I want everyone to see my art. I have been preparing hard for this, and when it gets out, I just hope they love it.” I was going through the space with Ariana, I had moved to the Pack house, it had just everything that I needed, and just how I wanted my space to be, even my dresses in the wardrobe, the color of my room, as if he paid so much attention the last time he was in my room at Emerald Pack for him to get everything right. And this morning, Ariana was at the pack house with Mr Belt, and he has driven us down here. “My dad is helping with everything that I want.” “You are his princess,” I said and she glanced at me with a smile. I bit down the jealousy that came to pile on my throat, and that was so shitty of me, the rest of the things she said I didn’t pay much attention to. “But sometimes I do wish he had someone at his side,” she shrugged and pointed over at a wall. “I want the biggest piece to be here.” We stopped in front of the wall. “They are bringing the piece later, and we start moving stuff,” “Your Dad should be proud.” She smiled sweetly. “He is…” “Hey, be careful with that!” She snapped at one of the workers who was bringing the artwork into the wall. “You better not break that!” “Sorry, Miss Ari.” They apologized, and Ariana rolled her eyes at him, her mood seemed to have changed in an instant, and then she sighed. “I just want Friday night to be perfect.” “It’s going to be perfect, I promise.” She pouted at me. “You have me remember, I will do whatever I can for you.” The smile returned to her face. “I’m glad I have you.” We went around the hall, checking and making sure everything was in place, and when the artwork started coming in, the Alpha had sent some of his guards and they all came to help fixing led lights, hang the art piece, and clean up the floor after work. We were done at around 9pm and I wanted to go back to my apartment at the Pack house, Ariana insisted that I go home with her, but I didn’t want to. We came out of the hall and saw Ariana's Dad outside leaning over his car, his arms folded across his chest, he hadn’t noticed us yet. And I took the advantage of staring at him, his looks were calm, he wasn’t even trying yet he had all the attention drawn to him, Ariana stepped closer but I didn’t, I didn’t try to move closer. “Dad.” She waved, and that was when his eyes came at us, his eyes went over me for only a second, and then he turned away, taking his gaze back to her. She was closer, and I saw them talking. I bet she was telling him everything that happened today, and how I must’ve been a great help because his gaze shifted to me, and I just had to wear a smile on my face. Mr Belt came to me, and my gaze went off them. “I will drive you home back to the pack house, Miss June.” “Thank you, Mr. Belt.” He nodded, and led me out, while I followed him behind quietly, I didn’t turn or stare at them anymore. I tried not to think of anything, not the last time I was with him in the house, not the time that I had felt his fingers. I didn’t… I didn’t want to think of him, because the next morning, I was driven off to the Pack house, as if he wanted me to forget but how could I? “Are you okay, Miss June?” I snapped my head to Mr Belt and hummed. “We are at the pack house.” “Oh.” “I see you have a lot on your mind, you should take it easy.” I didn’t give him a response, I stepped out of the car and shut it behind me. Flung my shoulder bag on, and walked through the small gate of the Pack house because he had stopped me outside. He was still out there waiting, to be sure that I had gotten in. I made my way to the kitchen in my apartment for a glass of water, and the image of his face from earlier flashed through my head. I dropped the glass on the sink, and walked out of the kitchen, packing my hair upwards with both hands. I jumped, my heart frozen for a second, my hands dropping from my hair. “Did I startle you, freckles?” I took my lips in and exhaled deeply. “How did you get in?” I couldn’t believe I found him standing in the small passage down to my room, leaning against the side of the wall. “Through the door.” “I remembered I locked it when I came in, how did you get in without…” “The keys?” He completed what I was going to say, and moved closer to me, “You don’t want me here?” His voice lowered, and he did the same for his height, holding a finger down my jawline. “You went home with Ari.” “And I came back for you.” “Why?” “It seems like you have some Daddy issues.” I scoffed and snapped his fingers off my jawline, making my way past him to my bedroom. It didn’t take him up to a second before he came in, and squatted in front of me, his hands on my knees, and those eyes on my face. He didn’t speak for a minute, and I couldn’t bring myself to talk to him, what if he saw through me? What if he knew just what I wanted?
