June.
“June!” Ari waved happily when she saw me, my face lit up the instant I saw her, ignoring whatever I had seen. I fell into her warm embrace, giving her the flowers. “You deserve it.”
“Thank you.” She said with a sweet smile and hugged me again.
The exhibition was filled with distinguished men and women from all around, I could smell the scents of Alphas, royal men, and ladies of higher standards, and sophisticated, the room smelled just like what you think it is.
I took a glass of the champagne that was passed around, June had been called on to explain a piece, and she was getting a lot of attention.
I stood in front of the design that caught my eye. I felt like there was some sort of connection I felt towards it, I was there, staring at it, and trying to get my meaning out of the drawings.
It was beautiful, but the meaning I could get behind it wasn’t.
“Do you find it attractive?”
His voice was magnetic, it just pulled me in, and I needed a way to stop it, a way that it doesn’t get all controlling of me.
I cleared my throat. “Yes, Alpha.”
I saw his feet covered in black shoes made of a wealthy leather. His hands crossed at his back, he wasn’t with the woman, this was the first time he was in a suit other than black, this was a gray suit.
It looked good on him, I don’t think there’s anything that doesn’t look that good on him.
“Why?” He threw a glance at me and I looked away.
“You have been standing here for a long time, there has to be a reason.”
“I want to know what kind of meaning you got from it, what are your thoughts?” His voice felt closer, he was standing beside me, I could feel my shoulders touching his body, and tonight, I did try to look extra beautiful, I took time to have my hair done, my nails polished, and my lashes straight.
Shamelessly, I wanted to look good for him.
And nobody prepared me for what I saw.
“Abandoned…” my voice cracked when I said the word out, so I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “…broken, lost.” I started to dig my nails into my finger and pull as if I wanted to peel the flesh off.
I took another glass of whatever was going on. “Don’t get drunk.”
“I won’t.”
“I don't want to ruin Ari’s event, she worked hard for this. I would rather leave.”
“She won’t want you to go.”
I looked around and saw her interacting with a charming smile on her face.
“I don’t think she needs me…” I turned to him. “You are here, “
“June that…”
“Alpha.” The lady from earlier appeared, she looked so much older and was blonde, she was everything I’m insecure about, her eyes had a unique green in them. Her hand went around his arms. “Where did you go?” She rested her head on his chest.
I didn’t want to stay there anymore, so I swigged the glass of champagne.”
“Felicia,”
I heard him call her, and some sort of disgust rose against the pit of my stomach. I strutted out on them, walked down to meet with Ariana. “Here comes my best friend, June.”
“She’s a medical student, and running a volunteer program here at the pack hospital, isn’t she gorgeous?” She said to the small gathering that was in front of her, their eyes turned to me, and my face held a small smile.
“I love your dress.” A lady beside Ariana said.
“Thank you, I love the color of your hair, you look amazing,” I replied, and the waltz music went on, I knew all her works were getting sold to her, and I couldn’t afford to get one even if I wanted. I was having another glass when it was stolen from me.
I turned to glare at the intruder and noticed that it was Mr. Belt.
He lowered his head at me without a word.
“I think I deserve some explanation, Mr Belt.”
“I only follow instructions,”
“I’m an adult and I can control myself, I hope you don’t overstep again.” I took the glass back from his hand. “And tell that to whoever sent you.”
He watched me as I chugged down the glass, and walked out of the hall, I didn’t care if he stood there and watched me, that part of the night was already ruined for me, and I didn’t want to make it worse.
‘You talk in your head a lot, you should try going silent for a while so your head doesn’t hurt.’
‘For someone who couldn’t find her own mate, you are more of a s**t!’ I cursed at her and sighed, I needed to control myself.
I had no time to entertain my wolf at this moment. I let the cold air touch against my skin.
‘f**k you, Coco.’ I said even more quietly.
‘Don’t blame me for your own stupidity.’
‘What makes you think you are any different?’ I hissed at her. ‘Stupid wolf.’ I shut her out and didn’t speak to her again.
“…there has been a price on this piece, and the highest bidder gets it.” It was a female voice when I went back into the hall, she was at a podium holding a piece that Ari made.
“250,000” Felicia called.
I took a step closer, and I noticed it had been going on for a while.
“300.” There was another from the back.
“450.” Felicia’s voice came up again, I turned and stared at her, she wasn’t with the Alpha, she was standing there with a man who looked like he was an Arab tourist.
“500.” The next voice came from the front row.
My eyes searched through the hall for him, until I felt a cold hand on my shoulders. “Alpha—“
The disappointment on my face the second I saw how it was, caught me up in my own words.
“Alpha?” He raised a questioning brow at me.
Which I felt was quite disgusting.
“Sold to Felicia Perez for a billion dollars!” The lady announced. I turned to leave and his hand pulled me again.
“Get the f**k off me!”
