June.
“It’s a medical exchange program, and it’s going to run for three months. You said you wanted to volunteer, remember.” I stared at my professor. He was grinning from ear to ear as if he were the one being offered the program.
“Yes sir.”
“This is an opportunity for you, you can get to have experience at the hospital,” He said and tucked his hand into his pocket. He didn’t mind that he was standing, and the Alpha had taken his seat.
“Will I move?” I asked.
“Yes, you are moving to the ShadowFang Pack by Monday. I will get all the documents needed. It has already been settled.”
His finger went to his lips. I thought he was reading a book, until I saw that the book was turned upside down. He held no expression on his face either.
He knew this was going to happen, and I never knew I was going to move out of here anytime soon.
“You should get ready and thank the Alpha for this opportunity.”
My lips spread out, while I lowered my head at him. He didn’t acknowledge that.
I left the office. I was going to study at ShadowFang for three months. I wanted the volunteer program, but I never knew it was going to come from him.
“I heard you’re going on a volunteer program,” Belinda, a friend of mine, said.
“Yes.”
“ShadowFang Pack is not a peaceful pack, they are always at war and the Alpha is terrifying. Though he is sinfully handsome. He’s scary. He takes on every woman that catches his eye, sleeps with them, dumps them, or maybe kills them. Who knows.” She was following me along the hallway.
“Will you be okay?”
“I will be fine,”
“Be careful.”
I nodded with a smile.
“I will take you home, Miss June.” It was his driver, the back door opened, and he was in it.
I got in and closed the door.
He dropped the file he was holding and turned, his face wore the sexiest smile. “Ain’t you happy to see me, June?”
“Mocking me, ain’t you, Alpha.”
He chuckled, and his gaze went back to the file, which I believe had something to do with my arrangement of his pack.
“Ralph my ex—“ I waited to see his expression.
He hummed.
“He was beaten.”
Still no reaction from him, but his face was stoic again.
“So?”
“Did you do it, Alpha?”
I closed the file and stared at me, he smirked.
That was all I needed to know. Was he watching me at the party? How much does he know about me?
He lifted his hand, and I waited for what he was going to do. He went down to my hair. “You are not scared of me, are you? June.”
Fuck it.
I love the way he calls my name.
I could melt in his arms each time.
“The second I have my hand raised, everyone gets scared, but I can’t see that fear in your eyes, something lies in it.”
His fingers went down to my jaw.
“And I told you, I deal with anyone who messes around.”
“How?”
“Beat them up,” I asked.
“That’s the least.”
“I end their lifespan.” His finger left my jawline, and he leaned against the chair.
“I think you wanted him alive, so it was just a lesson. He did make you cry.”
“He’s from a beta lineage, his family is quite …” his finger went over my lips and shut me up.
I wished those fingers were somewhere else.
“You shouldn’t care about that, June.” He moved back, taking his finger with him.
“I believe you owe me something.”
I stuttered. “What?”
He smirked.
“You know.”
I turned over in my seat, facing the car window even though I couldn’t see anything. The drive went on, and it started to rain, and the Alpha didn’t seem bothered by it.
“How did you know where I live?” I asked when the car stopped.
He didn’t speak.
“I have taken you home before, Miss June,” The driver answered.
“I can’t remember.”
“It's been a year,” he added, and I nodded.
“Do you want to come in?” I asked.
He took his time before he turned to me. “Why?”
“Your shirt.”
“He will take them.”
“Leave.” He said dismissively, and I felt hurt by his words and I couldn’t pretend to show it. I opened the car door and stepped out of the car, hurried down into the house, unlocked the door, and got in.
Taking off my shoes by the door, I walked into my bedroom, I dropped my bag on the bed, and I reached out to get his shirt from the wardrobe.
I was pulling it out when I felt a presence in the room with me. I spun around slowly, and he was standing behind me, without his shoes, his feet covered in black shoes, and there were a few droplets of rain on his shirt.
I held his t-shirt. “I thought you didn’t want to come in.”
“I was going to give this to your driver.”
I stepped closer, taking the towel with me to dry up the water from his hair, though it wasn’t much.
He didn’t step back, I didn’t even hear a sound when he walked or opened the door. I wanted to touch him, and I heard him speak. “You don’t know what I could do to you,”
“Neither do you,” I muttered, and he pulled me by the waist, pulling me closer to him. The towel had dropped out of my hand, he was strong and fit, I would have thought he was an athlete, or maybe the work he does. I was on the tip of my toes, wondering what could have gone worse at that moment.
His hand moved down from my waist to my butt, and he made a feel for it. My hand sneaked around his neck, pulling him close, and I could feel his breath on my face, inches away, my heart panting, craving, and shivering under his touch.
