Chapter 7: The End   Sam and Ray woke up to what seemed like a normal day. Sam went to make breakfast and turned on the TV. The news was on and she continued to make breakfast and she heard this interesting story “and in other news today police are searching for this woman… her name is Sandra  Collins and it’s said that she’s been missing since  yesterday evening and was last seen confronting this man… Michael St. Clair successful attorney in Illinois who is also missing after a case he was involved in was  suspiciously dropped. We’ll have more this investigation later on the evening news.” Sam dropped the glass cup   that she just filled with orange juice and screamed for Raymond.  Raymond scrambled to get out of the shower and ran to the kitchen and found Samantha passed out on the floor  “Sam? Wake up babe what’s wrong?” he said hitting her face lightly to wake her up. She woke up and looked up at Ray “He’s got her babe… Michael has Sandy and they’re  missing.” Samantha said crying. Then her phone rang and  it was David Collins. “I know Dave she just saw it… no we’ll  help in every way we can to find her.” He said and hung up the phone, there was a knock on the door and Ray got  up to see who it was and it was Michael’s attorney. “I’m  here to speak to her” he said pointing at Sam. “Ms. Steele… it is still Ms. Steele right?” he asked and she  nodded and he continued. “My client is missing well I  should say m former client that is, just got up and  stormed off for some reason after a young woman came  and chewed him out.”   Ray cut him off and asked “do you know why they had an  argument sir?” but the man simply shook his head and  focused back on Sam. “Surely you know where he might  be with the young lady? I’ve tried calling his cell but no  answer so I come to you Samantha to ask if there’s  anywhere he would be anywhere at all?” he asked with  sincerity but she answered “even if I did know where he  would be the first people I would tell is the police so that  they can find him and my bestfriend, who you better hope  is still alive because if she’s not I swear that you will not be able to get another client ever again are we clear?”  He nodded and got up from the couch where he sat and quietly left the house. “Don’t you think you was a little  harsh to him babe?” Ray asked and she glared at him “ok ok I get it Sam but snapping at his lawyer isn’t going to fix this you know.” He said defending his words and she just  ignored him. Somewhere in the woods there is a cottage…  a very modern cottage and in that cottage laid Sandy out  cold and Michael in the kitchen. “Oh God what have I  done? I overreacted and took the wrong person… wait this  could work in my favor… yeah trade this stupid b***h for Sam and then we live in this cottage for the rest of our  lives.” He thought to himself pacing back and forth, he took out his disposable cell and made the call.  Samantha’s cell rang but when she checked it, it was a  blocked number she answered it and couldn’t believe who  started talking. “Sam? Hello? Sam it’s Sandy oh my God you have to help me he’s…” that’s all she heard because  Michael snatched the phone away. “You want her to go  back to her family alive? Then we’ll do a trade… they get  her and I get you and since I’m being nice I’ll give you a  week to make your decision and it better be the right  choice Samantha.” He said and hung up. She didn’t know  what to do; she knew if she told Ray he’d take it horribly. Her phone rang again and this time it was the police and  they wanted her to come in for questioning. “I can come  in now if you want I have something to tell you anyway.” She said as she grabbed her coat, car keys and left the   house. When she got to the police station she met with  Ben, the detective that worked on Harry’s case. “Thank  you for coming in Samantha now what is it you have to  tell us?” he said gesturing her to sit down. She looked   unsure and Ben assured her that she was safe here and  started the tape recorder. “This is detective Ben Davis  recording Samantha Steele potential witness.” He said  pointing at her to begin speaking. “The suspect Michael St. Clair contacted me today with a deal… he said a fair  trade me for Sandra Collins.” She said into the recorder  and Detective Ben asked. “Do you know where he might  be located Ms. Steele?” but she shook her head and  answered “no he did not reveal where he and Mrs. Collins  were located but he did give me a week to decide what to  do.” She said and he stopped the recorder.  Ben looked at her and then asked “would you mind  wearing a tracking device? This way we can find you after  we retrieve Mrs. Collins that is.” Sam nodded and he instructed her to wait for Michael to call her and take the  deal and not to worry, with that she left and went back to  the house. She came in to see Ray sitting on the couch   waiting for her. “Sam why do I feel like you’re not telling me something?” he asked patting the cushion for her to  sit and she did. “I do have something to tell you but  you’re not gonna like it.” She said and he shrugged his  shoulders “try me “he said with a smirk and she rolled her  eyes. “Michael called me and before you say anything I  did go to the police after he called. He wants to trade  Sandy for me.” She finally finished and Ray shook his  head.  “No…No I’m not gonna let you do this…” he said balling  his hands into fists. He hated this, if he forces her to stay, she loses her bestfriend but if he lets her go then he may  lose her and this was not a fair for him. “Baby I have to do  this, she’s not only my bestfriend but the mother of 3 beautiful children who are probably wondering where  their mommy went.” She hugged him close “don’t worry the police will be able to find me I’ll have a tracking device  on me, I love you I’ll make sure to be safe ok?” she asked  beginning to cry and he nodded. They hugged each other close and she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him deeply, she didn’t want to think it but she had to believe this might be the last few days with him.  The next morning Ray woke up and saw that Sam wasn’t in bed; he hoped up and ran to the living room and she  was sitting on the couch and she looked up at him.  “Why’d you come running like a mad man? What’s wrong?” she said about to get up but he smiled. “I  thought I lost you already” he said sitting next to her but  she looked down. “Michael called he wants me to decide  now…” he looked angry. “I thought he said a week?” but  she shook her head “he changed his mind all of a sudden I  don’t know why?” she said picking up the phone.   “Who are you calling now?” he asked “I’m calling  detective Davis so I can get the device before Michael  calls back.” She said getting ready to go pick it up from  Ben. She got to the station and Ben was waiting for her,  he gave her the tiny device and explained everything on  how it works and told her to be careful. While she was  driving Michael called her phone and she thought “no this isn’t fair you’re not giving me any time to say goodbye to  him…” she didn’t want to answer it at first but she knew if she didn’t he would do the worst to Sandy. “Michael what  is it?”  “Times up are you coming or not?” he asked bluntly and  she whimpered a little but answered “yes I’m in my car  right now I was going home to…” but Michael cut her off. “No just make your way to my cottage you remember  where it is right?” she followed his next instructions and   when she came to the exit where the cottage was she  tossed her phone like he told her to. She got out of the car  to look at the cottage. Back at the police station Ben  noticed that the signal of Samantha came on and he sent  S.W.A.T out to follow the trace.  “Samantha babe” Michael said giving her a kiss and Sandy came running towards her. “Sam oh Sam I’m soo glad you’re here to save me.” Michael grabbed her tight “give  her your keys Samantha…NOW and if you tell anyone  where we are I will kill her do you understand Collins?” he said squeezing her wrist really tight. “Ok ok I won’t tell anyone.” She said grabbing Sam’s keys, she gave Sam a huge hug and whispered “thank you so much I promise I’ll  find a way to get you back to Ray.” Sam began to cry as she saw her bestfriend drove off in her car and that’s how  she knew she’d never see her or Raymond again. “Baby come in the house I want you to see our new home.” He  said pulling her away from where she and Sandra last  hugged.  Sandy made her way home to her husband and children  and she hugged and kissed until she remembered she had  to tell Ray what’s going on. She drove Samantha’s car back to Ray’s and pounded on the door “RAY….RAY COME  QUICK.” She said and he ran to the door… when he saw Sandy standing in the doorway he knew Sam was gone  and he broke down. Sandy got him up and took him into the living room while rubbing his back and assuring him   that she would be alive and well. Ray remembered what  Sam told him about the tracking device and said “we need  to go to the police station Sandra.” She looked at him and  nodded.  When they got to the police station he looked for  detective Ben Davis, they found him at his desk and started asking questions. “Sir my name is Sandra Collins  you handled my search didn’t you?” she asked and he jumped up and shook her hand and said “Mrs. Collins we  know where you were located and our best men are  surrounding that area right now but we need someone to  be inside with both of them so that they can retrieve Ms.  Steele.” And as soon as Sandy began to talk Ray said “I’ll go…I have to please?” he said looking at Sandra. “Alright  Mr.?” he asked and Ray answered “Walker, Raymond  Walker “  He put Raymond’s info in the computers and then led him to a room to get him ready to go to the location of  Samantha and Michael. “Are you sure you want to do this   Ray?” Sandy asked as she’s driving. “I have to Sandy I love her… I can’t lose her now.” She smiled and drove up to  the meeting point where the S.W.A.T team was. They  simply helped him put on the bulletproof vest and told  him the situation of what was going on in the cottage.  They found a secret opening to Sam’s room and snuck Ray  in. he heard them coming and decided to hide under the  bed. “Michael please I can’t feel my face anymore…please Michael” but he ignored and slapped her one more time  before leaving and closing the door behind him.  Ray crawled from underneath the bed and called Sam; she  turned around and was shocked to see Ray standing in  front of here. “Baby… oh my gosh what are you doing  here?” she said running into his arms and they both heard Michael. “Yes boy what are you doing here?” he asked  grabbing Samantha putting a knife to her neck. “Michael you don’t want to do this… you really don’t” he said  putting his hands up and walking slowly towards him. The S.W.A.T team listened in on them and got into position  and a sniper was in position to shoot and had a clear shot at Michael.  “Michael please don’t do this… think about what you’re doing” Samantha said but his grip on her neck got tighter and she moaned in pain. “Do you have a clear shot?” one of the team members asked and the sniper responded “all clear.” The captain motioned his head and gave the ok for the shot since the situation turned into a hostage  situation. “Michael please don’t do this…” Sam pleaded but then screamed when she heard the bullet going through Michaels head. Samantha fell with Michael’s now  dead body, Ray came over to her and helped her up from  the floor she hugged and kissed him while crying and he just hugged her close. “Marry me “was all Raymond said  to her and she nodded as he picked her up and took her home.
