Doubt 2

Melzgad walked through the corridors of the Order of the Veil's base, his senses on high alert. He had overhead some of the members talking about him, their voices filled with anger and hatred. "They're saying that I'm a threat to the fabric of time," Melzgad thought to himself. "They think that I'm going to use the Crystal of Atlas to destroy the timeline." Melzgad knew that he had to be careful. He didn't want to give the Order of the Veil any reason to attack him. As he turned a corner, he saw a member of the Order of the Veil standing in front of him. It was a tall, muscular man with a scar above his left eyebrow. "You're the one who's been causing all the trouble," the man said, his voice filled with anger. "You're the one who's responsible for what happened to Archon." Melzgad tried to explain, but the man wouldn't listen. He attacked Melzgad, his fists flying. Melzgad defended himself, using his agility and quick reflexes to dodge the man's attacks. But despite his best efforts, he couldn't avoid the man's blows entirely. In the heat of the moment, Melzgad struck back, his fist connecting with the man's jaw. The man stumbled backwards, clutching at his face. Melzgad felt a surge of guilt and regret. He hadn't meant to hurt the man, but he had been forced to defend himself. The man's injury only added fuel to the fire. The other members of the Order of the Veil were furious with Melzgad, and they began to hunt him down. Melzgad knew that he had to escape. He made a run for the exit, dodging and weaving through the corridors to avoid his pursuers. Finally, he emerged from the base and made his way back to the academy. He locked himself in his room, determined to lay low for a while. For three days, Melzgad hid in his room, refusing to answer the door or respond to any messages. Aria came to visit him, knocking on the door and calling out his name, but Melzgad ignored her. He knew that Aria didn't hate him, but he couldn't face her right now. He was too ashamed, too guilty. As the days passed, Melzgad became increasingly withdrawn. He stopped eating, stopped sleeping. He just lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling and wondering what he had done wrong. But despite his despair, Melzgad knew that he couldn't stay hidden forever. He had to face the consequences of his actions, no matter how difficult it might be. Melzgad lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He had been hiding in his room for what felt like an eternity, unable to face the consequences of his actions. Just as he was starting to drift off to sleep, he heard a knock at the door. Melzgad groaned, rolling over onto his side. He didn't want to talk to anyone. But the knocking persisted. Finally, Melzgad got out of bed and made his way to the door. He opened it to find Roy and Zara standing in the hallway. "What do you want?" Melzgad asked gruffly. Roy and Zara exchanged a nervous glance. "We want to talk to you, Melzgad," Roy said. "We want to convince you that our intentions are pure." Melzgad raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?" he asked. Zara took a step forward. "We're talking about the Order of Flames," she said. "We want you to know that we're not interested in using the Crystal of Atlas to manipulate the fabric of time." Melzgad snorted. "Save it," he said. "I'm not buying it." Roy held up his hands. "Hear us out, Melzgad," he said. "We're not trying to deceive you. We genuinely believe that you have the potential to be a great leader, and we want to support you." Melzgad raised an eyebrow. "What makes you think I'd be a great leader?" he asked. Zara smiled. "We've seen the way you handle yourself in difficult situations," she said. "You're brave, resourceful, and determined. Those are all qualities that a great leader needs." Melzgad was taken aback. No one had ever spoken to him like that before. Most people saw him as a threat, a danger to the fabric of time. But Roy and Zara seemed different. They seemed to genuinely believe in him. "What's in it for you?" Melzgad asked, trying to keep his guard up. Roy grinned. "We get to fight against evil alongside a great leader," he said. "What could be better than that?" Melzgad couldn't help but smile. There was something infectious about Roy's enthusiasm. "Okay," Melzgad said finally. "I'll listen to what you have to say. But if you're trying to trick me, you'll regret it." Roy and Zara exchanged a triumphant glance. "We wouldn't dream of it, Melzgad," Roy said. "We're on your side." Melzgad nodded, a sense of hope rising up inside him. Maybe, just maybe, he had found some allies in this crazy world. Just as Melzgad was starting to relax around Roy and Zara, he heard a familiar voice behind him. "Melzgad, what's going on here?" Aria asked, her eyes narrowing as she took in the scene. Melzgad turned to face her, feeling a sense of unease. "Aria, I can explain," he said. But before he could say anything else, Aria's eyes landed on Roy and Zara. Her expression darkened, and she took a step forward. "You're with them?" she asked, her voice dripping with disdain. "After everything they've done?" Roy and Zara stood up, their faces tense. "Aria, we mean no harm," Roy said. But Aria wasn't having it. She drew her sword, its blade shining in the dim light. "I don't trust you," she spat. "And I don't trust Melzgad if he's with you." Melzgad stepped forward, his hands raised. "Aria, stop," he said. "This isn't going to solve anything." Aria's eyes flashed with anger, but she hesitated. Melzgad took advantage of the momentary distraction to step between her and Roy and Zara. "Choose, Melzgad," Aria said, her voice cold. "Choose between me and them." Melzgad felt a pang of guilt. He didn't want to hurt Aria, but he also didn't want to give up on Roy and Zara. "I wouldn't choose between you guys," he said finally. Aria's face fell, and for a moment, Melzgad thought he saw a glimmer of sadness in her eyes. "Fine," she said. "But know this, Melzgad. If you're with them, you're against me." And with that, she turned and walked away, leaving Melzgad feeling torn and uncertain.
