Aubrey “Can I see my husband now? I really need to see him.” I said in a rush to the guard in front of me. My eyes were weary but he didn't seem to be buying what I was saying which made me groan in frustration. “Alpha Alex is busy right now. You can come back later.” The guard said with no sign of respect, instead with a hint of mockery. I pushed him aside almost immediately and barged through the door. The moment I was in, I stopped in my steps and my brain processed what was in front of me. “Alex?” I called out loud since he was too engrossed in what he was doing to even notice that I barged in. He looked at me with no remorse, trying to catch his breath, while she was on his shoulders, eyes closed like she didn’t even care about my presence. That was why I was in his office in the first place. Rumors were flying around that Alpha Alexander’s true love was back, The same Brianna who ditched him back in high school after he had an accident and when he was denounced heir to his father, but as soon as news reached her that he was now a successful Alpha, she came running back, and love blinded Alpha Alexander welcomed her back with open arms and tossed me away. I blinked in confusion, “What is going on here?” I couldn’t believe my eyes. I never knew Alex still loved her, especially after what she did to him back in high school, but I stood by him. Although this marriage is a one sided love, I was still grateful since I had to be with the man I love even if he will never reciprocate it. “Who let you in? Don’t you ever learn how to knock.” His voice sent shivers down my spine, and his eyes held a kind of special hatred for me, so different from the softness I saw earlier when he hugged and kissed Brianna. “Don’t play victim here Alexander. What’s she doing in your office, seated on your desk and resting on the Alpha’s, no wait, my husband’s shoulder? This is diabolical.” I gritted through my teeth, trying to control the anger brewing inside me. “Get out.” He said coldly as if my presence was already irking him out. I walked closer to Brianna and pulled her by the hair, hoping to force her to stand up. She winced in pain and Alex pushed me hard. My head hit the wall and I collapsed to the ground, everywhere around me was beginning to blur and my head was throbbing in pain. I could hear Brianna’s light gasp and her whispering, “Alex, did you kill her? I think she’s dead.” I could tell the concern in her voice was just a facade. And I passed out. ...... A sharp ache throbbed behind my skull as consciousness slowly enveloped my eyes. I tried standing up but my body felt like stone and I groaned in pain, it was like my body hadn't moved in days. I batted my eyelids gently and shut them again, trying to process where I was. I breathed but the usual lavender scent that usually greeted me in the morning was missing. I forced my eyelids open again, only to be met with two worrisome pairs of eyes, machines softly beeping and white walls. I still tried processing where I was but the more I tried, the more my head hurt. “Where am I?” I blurted in frustration, my dry lips parting to force those words out of my throat. “Luna Aubrey, you’re at the pack’s infirmary, you’ve been out for two days now. We were starting to get worried,” A feminine voice quickly responded. I gasped. Two days? I've been unconscious for two whole days? Just then, realization dawned on me, The push. Alex pushed me because of her and that push landed me here. Then one of them sighed, as though she wanted to say something but hesitated, my eyes stayed at her, silently urging her to speak, “Due to the stress and the fall... you miscarried.” It felt like my entire world stopped. I was pregnant? And now I wasn't? I felt numb. Cold shivers ran down my spine and I couldn’t believe my ears. Or was this all a bad dream that felt so real? “Where’s Alex? Has he come visiting yet?” Hope sparked in my chest for a brief second before it was crushed by the looks on their faces. My eyes widened in realization, should I feel sad? Or betrayed? I’ve been unconscious for two days and Alex couldn’t even visit for once even after hurting me. I sighed and sank back onto the bed, it felt like my whole life that I had worked so hard to put together for years was just crumbling before me with no mercy. Why did I even think Alex would care and come looking for me? One part of me knows that he never really loved me but just married me as a substitute to his first and only true love, and I keep on missing the point. “It’s best we leave you alone for now, Luna Aubrey. I’m sure this is all just too overwhelming for you to take in, you need to rest. The Alpha already ordered the omegas to make you something to eat once you woke up.” As the omegas left, I could hear faint chatter and footsteps echoing through the hall. I was confused, what was going on? Until I heard someone say, “Here comes Alpha Alexander.” Immediately, my heart skipped a beat. Even after three years, my heart still skipped at the mention of his name. Was he coming to see me? Or just passing by? But he couldn’t just pass by the pack’s infirmary without checking on me. My thoughts were derailed as the door to the room opened widely and I was face to face with his figure. Even lying down, I felt weak at my knees.
