Chapter 6 - Underdressed

Lucas looked at me, his eyes were intense.
"Hi!.. I am Laura!" Laura squeezed in-between us.
I moved back a little and let her carry on talking to him as I followed Sarah.
I couldn't help but look back at him and see him still looking in my direction.
I looked down grinning and then looked back at him, his jaw tensed and I saw a beautiful grin.
I looked away and followed Sarah downstairs into the yacht deck.
"Omg!" I said as I looked around.
"I know right.. how posh is this!" Sarah said, holding on to my hand.
"Sarah, please don't leave me alone tonight." I said, worriedly.
Sarah looked around at me.
"I promise, I won't leave you... I'll even go to the toilet with you!" she hugged me and I felt some of my worries dissolve.
Sarah really has been amazing, the first day I told her about my past she has never made me feel bad about it and always helps when she can.
She knew I can't do the whole men and party thing as I just can't get past my trauma.
I knew that my secret was safe with her, even when Laura and Hannah would say I was boring. Sarah would jump to my defense and tell them to stop getting on at me.
"There you girls are" I heard a deep voice.
I looked around to see Ryan and one of the men that came to my stall today.
"Hey pumpkin!" Sarah said to Ryan giving him a kiss on the lips.
I decided to take a sip of whatever is in my hand. It made me wince and my eyes water.
"What the fluff is this!...it's winky!" I said.
The man laughed "It's prosecco?...it's actually an expensive one"
"Ohhhh" I answered, awkwardly.
"Chloe, this is Nathan" Sarah said, with a smile.
"Nice to meet you" I smiled.
"Nice to meet you also, your cakes are banging" He said, cheekily.
"Thank you" I said smiling.
"Come one let's go see what food is on the table" Sarah said grabbing my hand and pulling me to the table.
"I think Nathan is totally in to you" Sarah said with a wink.
"Noooo....he was being nice about my cakes." I answered quickly.
"If you say so...anyway I'm sure Hannah and Laura will gobble up some of these men!" Sarah giggled.
"Well they have alot of competition!" I said quickly seeing more beautiful ladies walking on the boat.
I suddenly felt so underdressed and uncomfortable as these ladies were all glamorous and wore tiny skirts showing so much skin.
"I'm starting to panic, think I am done for the night..il head back home but you stay" I whispered to Sarah.
"We have been here 15 mins ...how about give it an hour and if you still want to go I will walk home with you, grab some food and watch a film at yours?" Sarah smiled.
"Your so beautiful, but I wouldn't let you miss this yacht party, if I go...I will go alone" I smiled.
Sarah held my hand tight which I thought was so sweet of her and I took the smallest sip of the prosecco.
"Your hair is so beautiful" Nathan said now standing by my side.
"Thank you, that's so kind of you to say" I said, swiftly.
"Tell me about yourself?" he said now drinking his bourbon.
"erm. I'm not very interesting...I bake and that's it?" I said smiling.
I look around to see Lucas has now joined the lower deck and see Lara following him.
"So are you from this island?" Nathan said, making me snap my attention back to him.
"I was born in America and moved here about 5 and half years ago" I smiled.
"I knew that was an American accent!" Nathan said.
"Ah yes ..and your from the United Kingdom?" I asked.
"Yep..how you guess that" he winked and laughed.
I smiled as I saw Lucas approaching from the corner of my eye.
I squeezed Sara's hand who was talking to Ryan and she squeezed my hand back.
"Lucas your muscles are huge!" Laura said so loud as she was squeezing his muscles, trying to get his attention. Her chest was now pressed up on him and I saw him stare down at it. Laura knew it too as she gave them a giggle for a show.
I looked away feeling uncomfortable and pissed off. Why am I feeling annoyed about a man as I don't want that, perhaps I like him more than I am letting on and fooling myself.
I looked back at Nathan who also noticed Laura's chest and was staring straight at her. I looked at Ryan who was in a deep conversation with Sarah.
I turned to the table and let go of Sarah's hand, giving her a reassuring nod that I am okay. I see some mini cakes and I have to taste them. I have such a passion of baking that I like to taste other people's art of baking and guess what could be in them.
I feel like I am okay here, all the girls with their bits out will get the mens attention which means I can go through the night invisible.
I smile at the thought as I pick up a mini cake, it has a chocolate swirl on the top with a dusting coat of icing sugar.
I close my eyes and bite into the cake, it was fluffy with a chocolate centre.
"Enjoying that" I heard Lucas say behind me.
I spun around covering my mouth.
"Mmm hmm" I answered as I nodded to him.
He picked one up and ate it in one, by now I have finished my mouthful.
It didn't take long for him to finish his bite.
"Nah, I have had better cakes recently" He grinned.
I smiled and looked down at the other cakes.
"Which one we trying next then?" He said now looking down at the table.
"Strawberry one?" I asked.
"Deal" He grabbed two mini strawberry cakes. They were small with a slice of strawberry on the top with dusting of icing sugar on.
I bit mine as he chucked the whole cake in his mouth.
The cake just melted in my mouth as the cream centre made me close my eyes as it was heavenly.
"I agree...this one is nice" He said.
I opened my eyes nodding as I put the last bit of cake in.
"Mmm mmm" I said nodding again.
Lucas eyes met mine and I suddenly felt less relaxed.
"There you are!.. come dance with me" Laura grabbed Lucas and dragged him away.
I gave a wave to them as they went into the little crowd of people towards the yacht stairs.
"I watched everything...you like him" Sarah said.
"I don't know what it is about him that I find sooo intriguing!" I said to her.
"I knew it!" Sara's face dropped.
I smiled as I grabbed a strawberry cake for her.
"You have to try this..it's amazing" I said, giving her the cake.
She ate it and her eyes closed straight away.
"Right!" I said, excited.
"Omg. don't talk to me and get me another...wow!" She said looking for more.
I laughed as I grabbed another for her and one more for myself.
