Chapter 5 - Outside the Comfort Zone

I dropped Jacob to school and I was now going to see Nonni.
I walked in and saw her at the kitchen counter with a big smile.
"Hello, love" she beamed.
"Hello, Nonni..." I sat down and grabbed the cup of coffee that she makes for me every morning.
"Have you decided to go out tonight?" She said now sitting at the table passing me another cup of coffee.
"Erm..." I gave her a confusing look.
"Well...I think you should" she said, sternly.
"Maybe....Nonni you have made me two coffees today?" I said pointing to the one I was drinking.
"Oh... ignore me I'm turning batty" she said with a laugh.
I smiled at her as she laughed.
"So have thought about it then?.." She proceeded.
"Nonni.. you're a very persistent lady" I said rolling my eyes.
"Well I think you should go... please promise you will give it consideration?" She looked at me, deeply.
I nodded as I took her washing out to peg on the line.
"Right, I will be back later...is there anything you need me to get?" I asked as I grabbed my bag and drank the rest of my coffee.
"Some treats for Jacob please so I can give them him when he stays tonight" she smiled.
"Okay, love you" I kissed her cheek and walked to the door.
"Okay duck, I will see you at the window" she said as I shut the door.
I looked at the window and waved as I sat down in the car.
I waved once more and left for the stall.
I was set up and already had customers, people seem to come back for my cakes and it makes me so happy.
Last night I made some butterscotch cookies so I placed them on my new tray as I have never done them before.
The day seemed to be going fast, alot has been sold again today which made me so proud.
"Oooo what shall I have boys" I turned around and saw Lucas standing looking at my goods with two of his friends.
He didn't even look at me as he and his friends looked at the cakes I had to offer.
The knot in my stomach appeared again.
I knew I had to be polite and breathed.
"Hello, can I get you anything?" I said, trying to be confident.
"Can I have a Bakewell tart please" said one of the men.
I got it ready for him, I can feel Lucas looking at me from the corner of my eyes.
"There you go!, enjoy" I smiled
I placed the money in my apron and gave him the paper bag that contained his bakewell.
I looked at Lucas who stared with a grin.
"What would you recommend, Chloe" He said smoothly.
"Erm ...These are new and it's the first time I have baked them, so maybe a butterscotch cookie?" I said, pointing to the new tray.
"Sure...il take two"
"Super" I bagged them up and seen he was holding his money already.
"Thank you, let me get you change" I said looking down in my apron.
"Keep the change" he said.
"Oh, erm thank you" I said, blushing a smile.
The other two men had wondered to the next stall and Lucas walked closer to me.
"So...will you be joining us later?" he asked.
"Erm, I'm unsure" my voice was no longer confident.
"Hmm" Was all he said as he walked off to catch up with his friends.
I was confused, what does that mean? why didn't he say bye?
I shook him out of my head as I kept going over our conversation and over thinking all my answers.
I packed my stall away and made my way to the shop to pick up them bits for Nonni and then to the school to pick up Jacob.
He was so happy today as he ran out of the school into my arms.
"Hello, I missed you!" I said as I squeezed him tightly.
He told me all about his day as we drove to Nonni's.
I walked in but went straight into the garden to fold up the dried washing.
"Did you have a great day, love" Nonni said as I came back in.
"I did..it was nice" I smiled.
I started making a drink and I then looked at my nan again.
"He came to my stall again....Lucas I mean" I said, partly freaking out.
"He sounds keen on you" she smiled.
"I'm not so sure.. he asked if I was going tonight and when I said not sure, he said hmm and walked off!" I said to her looking for answers.
"Well he can't show all of his sides yet, the fact he asked you again? he is wanting you to say yes" she rolled her eyes.
"What if I made an horrendous mistake....what if you or Jacob needs me" I said to her.
"Your looking for excuses." She said, as she grabbed the cups out of my hands.
"Nonni!"
"Come on, go and get ready and have some fun. you deserve it!"
I gave her a hug and kissed her cheek, I then knelt down to Jacob.
"Please be very good for Nonni" I said as I hugged and kissed his cheek.
"I will! love you mummy" he said as he squeezed me tightly.
I kissed his cheek again "Sweet dreams for later and have lots of fun"
"Go on duck, have fun and love you, I will see you at the window"
I got in the car waving to her as I slowly pulled away.
I called Sarah. "Sarah.... I am coming!"
"Don't even get my hopes up, you have done this to me before!" she snapped.
"No I mean it...I promise I will come" I said, already feeling sick that I said it.
"For real! like real real?" she said in a higher pitch.
"Yes...meet me at mine" I said as I got out the car and jumped in the shower.
I showered, shaved, and got ready..I was now standing at my mirror.
I'm rather a small girl with a small figure. I have very long brown hair that is always in a plait but I have that down looking wavy. I have blue jeans on with a red halter neck top. To me that is the best I can do as I don't have any going out kind of clothes.
I have make up on as I love make up and wear it daily but tonight I have done smokey eyes with eyeliner and lots of mascara.
Sarah walks in my bedroom.
"Door was open so walked in..Holy f**k you look hot!" she said, shocked at my look.
"Is it too much?" I said, wincing.
"No not at all...do you have a skirt?" she looked at me winking.
"I have summer skirts yes...but I am not wearing a skirt!" I said sternly.
"Okay...well I think you look amazing!" she smiled and hugged me.
"Let's take a picture as you never come out and this needs a picture proof moment" she said getting her phone out for a selfie.
I smile in her pic and then tell her I am ready after a splash of perfume.
"We are going to meet the girls in a moment around the corner." she said as we leave the house and I lock my door.
"Trainers?" she questioned.
"Yep!" I started to walk.
"Okay, that's cool I guess" she said walking to catch me up.
I look around to see her running slightly to my arm. Sarah is about the same build as me, her boobs are a little bigger and always on show. She has a black sequin dress on with strapped heals.
We start seeing Hannah and Laura as they walk up in dresses and heels.
"Omg Chloe! about time!" Hannah hugged me and looked at my outfit.
"You look hot but would be even hotter in a dress!" Laura said.
"Thank you...I think" I said as we walked to the Yacht.
I was surprised when we started getting closer, it was huge and beautiful. I could hear music coming from it and there was alot of people going on the boat.
I started to panic slightly but Sarah held my hand and gave me a reassuring look.
We walked on and I saw Ryan and two of the men that was at the stall today.
There was a man working and handing out drinks, I refuse but he gave me one anyway.
I looked around and I found Lucas just sat on a sofa just playing on his phone. I saw Ryan go up to him and whisper something and I saw his eyes snap up to where I was and he stood up putting his phone away.
I looked down at my drink but could see from the corner of my eye he was now closer.
"Fancy seeing you here?" he said smoothly.
"Indeed" I said, smiling at him.
