Episode-2 Irony Dayton, Ohio 2003 - - - - - - - - - “Reeve, come on, come down now! You’ll be late if you don’t hurry.” Jenna squealed from downstairs for reeve to come downstairs, while reeve was in his room upstairs. “Coming mom, I’m just packing some stuff. Just a minute.” Reeve shouted back to let her know that he will be down soon. “Okay, but hurry up baby.” She was relieved to know that reeve was doing what he was told to. It was the first time when reeve is going on a summer camp, away from his mother and five-year-old brother. Reeve was excited about this camp so he prepared for it himself. He packed his bag himself with a little help from his mother. “Okay, mommy.” He replied yelling telling her mom that he heard what she said. Reeve walked down the stairs holding a yellow and black colored sturdy nylon bag with some cars drawn on it. It also had three shiny small pockets with black zippers hanging on the zips in the front of the bag and while two zippers were on the top. The zipper on the front had a beautiful keychain hanging with a very adorable Crochet dog keyring. It was made of white and brown yarn. It was handmade by his mother for him. “Okay boy, is your stuff ready, as I told you?” Jenna asked. “Yes mom, I've packed everything you told me of in that list you prepared,” Reeve reassured Jenna. “Good, that’s my boys, let me check if anything is missing. Give me the list.” She demanded pulling her hand out. “Okay, you say the names on the list and tell you if I've packed it or not.” Reeve proposed. “Okay, tissues?” she started checking the names off the list one after another. “Check”. “Swim shoes and goggles?” “Check” “Bathing suit?” “Check” “Towels?” “Check” “Bug spray and repellent?” “First aid?” “Check” “Sanitizers?” “Check” “Clothes and undies?” “Check” “Shoes?” “Check” “Great, now keep this in the bag too. This had some of your favorite snack chips, granola bars, fruits, chocolates, and candies. Eat it when you’re hungry. Don’t share it and surely don’t waste it. And this cell phone, keep it with you all the time in your pockets. Call me if there is any problem, I have mine and dad’s number on the speed dial.” Jenna said worried that her baby might need her when he gets scared away from home. But he didn’t know that reeve was a brave boy already. “Okay mom, I’ll be a good boy like you said.” He reassured knowing that his mum worries a lot. So, he said so to calm her. “Okay, my tiny sweet man, now go and bring your little brother to the car. I’ll put our stuff in the trunk while you come out. We’ll drop to the camp together.” Jenna said. “Right away,” Reeve said running to Jim’s room, which was near to where they were standing. Reeve went to his brother's room as his mother asked him. Jim was playing in his room when reeve went to call him. He was sitting on the floor with his remote control red colored car. The remote was in his hands while the car was swirling speedily around the whole room. “Jimmy come were leaving, let’s go mom is waiting for us in the car.” He said calling for his brother’s attention. “Where are we going?” Jim asked making an expression of innocence in his sweet angelic voice. “You're going with mom and me to drop me off to my summer camp,” Reeve told him. “When will you be back?” he again asked in his cute accent. “Just two days”, Reeve said. “I’ll be bored without you. Can you not go? You will miss your mom.” Jim asked wide-eyed. “I’ll be back soon. Mom will play with you; you won’t even miss me. Before you even know I’ll be back home. And I am taking Mr. brown with me so you all will be with me. So I won’t miss you all I’ll bring something nice for you from there if you will b a good by and look after mom nicely.” Reeve offered the deal. His father took his promise before leaving for his mission that he will look after his mom and little brother in the absence of his father like a man. And a man reeve kept that promise well. He did all that his mum asked him to do. “Okay, don’t forget your promise,” Jimmy said pulling out his pinkie to seal it with reeve. “Cross my heart and hope to die,” Reeve swore. “Boys hurry up in the car.” Both heard their mom yelling from the parking, asking them to come out and in the car. “Yes mom”, reeve said just before jimmy yelled back the same thing, “Yes, mom.” - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Don't worry about a thing 'Cause every little thing gonna be all right Singin': "Don't worry about a thing 'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!" I think they are busy somewhere. Should I drop you off at your house? Everyone else is gone only you are left. You shouldn’t wait for them any longer” rose, his homeroom teacher said. “But Ms. Rose, mom promised me that she will pick me up, she must be held up somewhere. She will come soon. She never broke any of her promises. I'm sure she will be here soon.” Reeve was uncertain and discouraged that she won’t show up, even when he was saying that. He was hoping to see his mother waiting outside of the school to pick him up. He wanted to tell everything about the camp to his mother. But she wasn’t there. Maybe she was late or maybe she isn’t coming. “Okay but just ten more minutes, I’ll bring my stuff. If Mrs. Beaver isn’t here till then; I will drop you. Okay?” rose said. “Yes, Ms. Rose.” Reeve agreed. “After ten minutes, still Reeve’s mom didn’t come to pick him up at the school. So as promised, Rose was going to drop him. This time Reeve couldn’t say anything and he did what he promised. He went and seated in Rose’s car. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - That was the day when the peaceful and loving days of his normal childhood ended.
