I adjure thee, most evil spirit, by Almighty God.

“Exorcism is the act of driving out or warding off demons from persons, places or things that are possessed or infested by them, or are liable to become victims or instruments of their malice. During the exorcism ritual, a solemn and authoritative adjuration of the demon is applied in the name of God or any of the higher powers to which the demon is subject."

“Jim you’re ready?” Reeve asked without turning his eyes away from the on its knees black-eyed.

“ready as hell,” Jim answered holding a book in his hands.

“what are you doing?” the demon spoke.

“showing you our love,” Jim said.

“Exorcizamus te, Omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis” Jim started chanting the exorcism incantation.

“wait I will tell you don’t send me back to hell.” Demon spoke.

“Why did you kill all of them? Why do you want from them?” Reeve asked angrily.

“I had orders to find someone.” He answered.

“who are you looking for?” Jim questioned this time.

“All I was told was that it was born on September 30th, 1997.” the demon again said.

“But why did you kill all of them?” Reeve enraged.

“I was just told to find the person. I didn’t kill all of them. My job was just to get information on them. And not to hurt if I find the person. I don’t even know if I am looking for a male or a female who was born on that day.”

“why are you looking for that person? What interests you have in its existence?” Jim asked keeping a calm composure.

“I am not told any of it. My job was just to find that person, the other demons will deal with it,” he answered

Reeve again splashed the holy water on it, but even after a lot of fuming and writhing no more information, they could get out from him.

“leave it, Reeve, that must be above his paygrade,” Jim spoke with a smirk on his face.

“you are right,” Reeve said with a muffled laugh.

“Exorcizamus te, Omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, mnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica. Ergo, omnis legio diabolica, adiuramus te…cessa decipere humanas creaturas, eisque æternæ perditionìs venenum propinare…Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciæ, hostis humanæ salutis…Humiliare sub potenti manu Dei; contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili nomine…quem inferi tremunt…Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine. Ut Ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos.” as Jim was performing the exorcism the demon was shouting and shrieking breaking all the mirrors and glass of the whole room, begging them to stop. Just as the exorcism ended the black-eyed demon came out of its vessel in a cloud of dense black smoke and was sent back to hell.

All the time, as they were dealing with the demon, they didn’t notice how terror strike Rocky was. He was in a corner of that room, trembling with fear, trying his best to save himself from getting a heart attack. His heart was beating faster than even a bullet train. The heart was on the verge of coming out of his mouth. His eyes were closed and his hands were covering his ears. He was petrified. No words can ever describe what he went through, seeing something like that up front.

“hey get up,” Jim said holding his fear trembling hands. From the sudden contact, Rocky shivered a bit, but still, he opened his eyes to see.

“get up everything is fine now.” Jim again said.

Rocky looked at him with his red eyes and hugged him crying in his arms. “he is gone now, you are safe.” Jim said with compassion.

“how is Sandy?” he asked with a stammer.

“she is unconscious but will soon be fine,” Jim answered. “Reeve is looking after her,” Jim added pointing at the bed in the room where the lifeless body of the girl was lying.

“I can’t thank you enough. You saved her and me too. thank you so much.” He thanked Jim.

“solve the problem that you too had. You don’t know how lucky you are to have such a good life.” Jim advised and Rocky just flacked a pained smile as an answer.

“Should we move Reeve?” Jim said to Reeve.

“Is there something to eat? I starving.” Reeve said looking to Rocky.

“yeah sure, wait a minute.” He said and left the room.

“what are you doing Reeve? You’re hungry at this time?” Jim questioned Reeve.

“There is something we still don’t know,” Reeve speaks out wearing a serious expression on his face.

“what are you talking about?” Jim asked.

“We still don’t know what they were after.” He answered.

“I know you are right. But he is not the person who can help us. We have to find something or someone who can.” Jim reasoned

“But I am also hungry, let’s eat and roll.”

They both failed and succeeded in this mission, they did save the=wo lives but they don’t know who many more lives were in danger. How many more people need to be saved? but they were still on their journey of trying till they could last, to see how capable they are in doing the right thing to do. There was indeed a lot of unanswered question to be answered. But they were hopeful because when you do right, the thing will itself be right. They had this belief and each other, their family and there was nothing else more they needed.

“Hey stop listening to this song, it's not summer yet and we have a job to do.” Jim started on with being a giant mom to his older brother.

“stop dude, I just took a small break.”

“you slept the whole night last night and you need more break.”

“you are good at being a geek not me, I hate this research and all.”

“I need your help”

“Just ten more minutes.”

“get up now, there is something that I found out.”

“what is it? What is it related to?”

“I have been looking into why September thirty is so important. Why are the demons looking for someone specific, the one who was born on the day? But there was almost no lead on it no matter how much it sieved through. But just now I think I found something on that.”

“What is that show me?”

“get up first.”

Reeve got up from his bed, leaving his glass of wine, and followed his brother to the other room.

Flashback,

“Should we go back and crash in the motel again?” Jim asked his brother who finally let him drive his car. Reeve was too full after having lots of delicious food and booze at the mansion which Rocky cooked for them.

Jim was driving from the outskirts when suddenly he heard Reeve saying, “hey stop there.”

“where? Why?” Jim asked looked right and left, there was nothing much around that area, and even if there was it was barely visible in the darkness.

“there, in front of that house.” Reeve drunkenly pointed to his left side. There was a cottage at a distance.

“why? It’s empty. Wait, you want to crash in an empty house?” Jim asked his drunken big brother. But also, he took his car there. For him it was a better choice to not bear with the drunken state of his brother again, he talks and laughs too much usually.

“I am done with that motel room; I want a hot bath,” Reeve said and got out of the car, running in the house.

“come inside it’ll be fun, just for some days.” He said playfully to Jim. Jim too parked his car and followed his brother inside.

From the inside, the room wasn’t too dirty for an empty house, as if someone cleaned it just a few weeks ago.

“what do you got?” Reeve lazily came out of the room and said.

“I found an article from a newspaper from back then, from October 1st. there wasn’t something specific that had happened on that day, but there was something that caught my attention.” Jim started explaining.

“what is it?” Reeve asked with curiosity filled in his voice.

“see this article, it says that the weather forecast recorded some weirdness in the weather condition that day in the noon,” Jim said.

“What happened that day?” Reeve again asked, he was even more curious by now.

“it says for a little while, the weather condition of a particular part of the town became extreme, where they didn’t mention,” Jim answered.

“extreme in what sense?” Reeve asked.

“extreme in the sense of sudden rainstorm, dark clouds, heavy rainfall, lightning, and earthquake all at once.” Jim spoke and again added, “but it was so short-lived that even those who lived there and experienced it were not exactly sure about it. No one gave much priority to this and soon it was as good as forgotten. And as for those who were born that day were concerned, I've checked the birth record of every child born in all the hospitals of this town at that recorded time. At that time that noon, when all that strange things happened there were only two babies who were born, one was Lucas, who is already dead and the other was the girl principal Patterson told us about, Jody Mills. There is nothing about her that we know yet.” Jim explained everything he got so far.

“so, what you are saying is that when this girl was born everything went nuts, which means she could be the one demon is searching for, but she is off the records?” Reeve questioned.

“yes,” Jim said.

“what do you suggest, who is she?”

“I'm betting on either a cambion or a Nephilim.”
