Matt
I groaned as the doorbell rang shrilly downstairs, knowing my luck that would be some bloody Jehovah witnesses or something. I buried my sweaty head in my pillow with a groan, the doorbell rang again and I just swore couldn't they just leave me to feel like crap in peace. Another bloody chime convinced me that these women trying to save my soul or whatever it was they wanted to do weren't going to give up easily. I pushed myself up out of bed with a snarl and began to shove my protesting legs into a nearby pair of tattered jeans, they hurt no matter what my entire body did it was as if my muscles were all the wrong shape for my body or something stupid like that. Of course my dad had informed me that it was growing pains followed by 'go to school', but I couldn't believe everybody else seriously lived through this degree of pain everyday it just wasn't possible. I pulled a sweater on over my head and padded slowly down the hall by body instantly burning up from the extra layers sweat pooling on every inch of my skin the smell of sickness wafted out of me. I growled as whoever at the door carried on pushing the button repeatedly, clearly determined not to give the inhabitant a moment's peace until they answered the damn door. I saw a rippling figure in the glass panel of the front door. I hooked on the chain and cracked the door open just an inch to peep out.
"You know how to keep a girl waiting." A soft voice said playfully,
"Amy?" I asked truly dumbfounded, she smiled,
"Yeah the girl that smells nice." She said lightly. "God you look like a sack of crap",
"Well thanks. What the f**k are you doing here?"
"Well I was worried about you." She said brightly, "so there is no need to be rude." I found myself letting out a short laugh,
"Why the hell were not friends I don't even know you." Her smile faded she suddenly looked distinctly uncomfortable,
"Because I can help you, and believe me I think you will need my help if my theory on you is correct." Right." I said slowly, "How the hell did you know where to find me anyway?" I muttered, the smile was instantly back.
"I have my ways."
"Well I'm just sick." I said "but thanks for the concern it's a little weird but"
"Are you going to invite me in or what?" she said brightly. I shook my head hurriedly
"No, "I said abruptly "you, you shouldn't be here. why the f**k are you here?"
"I can help you." she said softly,
"With what the flu. I don't know are you from some f*****g cult or something? What is it you want from me?" she was watching me calmly her eyes clearly appraising me in a knowing sort of way I didn't like it, it was as if she could see more than what was on the outside. "I don't need your help." I said sharply and closed the door with a firm shove and leaned forward pressing my forehead to the cool glass closing my eyes, "What in the world was that?" I muttered very confused and yet suddenly feeling inexplicably tired.
