Hospital Escape

Amani was alternating between being hot and cold shivering and convulsing while her fever reached unbelievable heights doctors hadn't seen in a patient in those parts. She was under a cooling pad attached to an IV drip and she was thrashing in what could only be described as horrific pain and so the nurse administered a healthy dose of morphine before exiting the room. It was around midnight when a fire broke out in the hospital and people started to flee in a panic, Amani woke and found just like her feverish dreams she was surrounded by the flames but they did not scare her . Amani looked around her and saw she was in a hospital and for a brief moment thought she was dreaming once again until she heard a young child calling for their mother “ mama , mama help me help me mama!” she rushed out the room and saw a young girl in the room across from her own surrounded by fire she ran in and grabbed the girl she clutched the girl to her chest grabbed a uniform on a rack as she ran down the hall with her and placed her on the ground once they reached a safe spot outdoors “ go find your mom she must be over there where all the people are gathering go find the constable and he will help you” she told the little girl while she ran towards the water stealing a little canoe she called on her water spirits to help her get over the body of water as fast as possible. Once over the water she ran through the forest not really sure where she was going just knowing she could not yet stop running if she wanted to stay out of Otaktay's clutches. Amani's body was changing she could feel it and it terrified her like nothing else ever had, she could feel her body becoming something she did not recognize her body had healed faster than a human should heal after all the scratched from the wild forest growth underfoot. She had felt the tree branch scratch her face, felt it and saw a drop of blood on her finger then she felt her skin tighten and the scratch no longer hurt , it had closed up. She was walking through a city she knew nothing about now in clothes she had stolen from the hospital when she escaped and it had started to rain in fast unapologetic sheets she felt weak and totally alone and without knowing who or what she was asking she cried out “Help Me! Please help me” and then she passed out . Amani woke up in a warm bed and saw two women sitting on a sofa not that far from the bed “it's unsafe for a young thing like you to be out in your condition” said the older of the two the younger one who was about the same age as Amani nodded in agreement “my condition?” she question confused wondering what condition she could possibly be talking about “aye that's right a werewolf you will be soon enough in about a day your transformation should well be complete what with the full moon expected” Amani stared at her in shocked disbelief “a werewolf? You can't be serious; how can I be turning into a werewolf?” the elder of the two smiled and nodded at the younger girl who then turned into a wolf before her very eyes “my girl here was turned as well only we got it from drinking tainted drink , This rogue werewolf had wanted to create an army to get revenge on his previous clan and so he tainted our water source with his saliva and blood then bedded our young women , killed all the men of our village and had us birth children with no werewolves who then became werewolves themselves when they reached maturity” she looked down with clenched fist “ after destroying our lives as we knew it he would come and steal our young men to add to his army in his big fancy castle he took over from another village no loyalty or love have we for that beast the one and same who turned you Otaktay himself” Amani was shocked and clutched the blankets “how did you know , will you return me to him? He stole me away from my people he shot my best friend with a silver bullet and I don't even know if she survived I hadn't even known she was a werewolf” the young girl sat next to her on the bed and held her hands “we can't keep you here , if he comes here as our alpha we must abide by his decree he is still very far from here so it will take him time to get here in that time you must go very far away . I can see that you are very favored you have all of the elements around you all 5 shining brightly the moon goddess favors you so I know you will be okay ask your friends of the elements to help you locate others. Look for the Snow clan they have been looking for Otaktay to make him pay for all his wrong doings, they will keep you safe. Know that Otaktay fears no clan but that of the Snow in Azyra who are believed to be the moon goddesses favored clan of all the world, stay with them until it is safe to return home. You must also avoid the next town go North and stay North for as long as you can he has no agents there” Amani would have asked more questions but just then there was a special knock on the door that went 5 knocks a pause then two knocks “enter child we have no time to waste with silly code games” said Maeve the child of about 10 years old walked in with a pack on his back that was too big for her “ Granny I brought all the supplies I could Annie is bringing the clothes you asked for” Maeve's daughter Eve brought her a warm bowl of stew “eat this you have a long road ahead of you , and remember do not fear your change welcome it and go along with it that will make your journey easier it will also help if you are not near people when you shift though if you do shift make sure to to slip the pack on so you have something to wear when you shift back to human which all you have to do is picture yourself in your mind and you should be able to shift” Amani was overwhelmed and barely had time to process everything before she was dressed in a loose fitting outfit with the pack of clothing and food as well as a little bit of money and on her way North bound as fast as her tired feet could carry her.
