From the far end of the room, he took steps that brought him closer to where they sat, his eyes fixed on Lily as she darted her eyes from side to side, looking for the perfect escape route. But he was now right in front of her. He stood there like a huge statue, towering over Lily as she was sitting down.
Mark flashed a brief smile at Emily and Sarah, then his eyes turned back to Lily. He suddenly spun around, then squeezed himself into the little space that was left next to Lily, tensing her body as she immediately scooted away, providing more space for him. He definitely took advantage, spreading his legs and leaning his back on the couch, getting all comfortable.
Silence...
Lily's nerves intensified as she felt eyes on her. She had no idea what to do. She instantly looked at the girls who were swooning over Mark. Only to be met with death glares, some even eyed her up and down while gritting their teeth.
She had to escape.
Lily turned to her friends, silently pleading for help as she mouthed the words ‘help me,’ but they only shrugged. She frowned at them as frustration creased her forehead. She cast her eyes downward, searching for a way out. Taking deep breaths, she mustered the courage to make a move.
Okay. 1…2…3
Lily turned her face to Mark. His attention was fixed on his drink as he took small gulps out of his red cup. This was her chance to slip away. She hesitated for a second, then began to rise, but a hand stopped her—Mark's hand. It firmly grasps her exposed thighs, causing a tingling sensation to shoot through her body. Instantly she froze, stunned by his unexpected touch. With a commanding pull, he brought her back to her seated position.
Lily abruptly turned to him, shooting him a glare. But Mark’s focus still remained on his drink, yet his hand lingered on her lap. She immediately faced Sarah, her eyes begging for her help. Unexpectedly, Sarah reached out and gently guided Lily’s face to meet Mark, a gesture that took her surprise, as if Sarah wanted Lily to face Mark head-on.
But as soon as Lily was about to say something, Mark finally set his cup down, removing his warm hand from her lap, leaving it suddenly exposed to the chill of the air.
His eyes piercing Lily's soul. “Where do you think you're going?"
"Uhh, I just..." Lily started, but her words trailed off.
"You're not going to drink that?" He pointed towards Lily's red cup filled with alcohol.
"What... uhm..." Lily's gaze shifted to the cup that was still filled. She hadn't even taken a sip. "I'm not really that into alcohol," she replied, avoiding his penetrating gaze.
"First time?"
"Uh, no, maybe... I don't know," she fumbled with her words.
Mark's lips curled into a knowing smile. "So, you're a good girl," he concluded, his statement landing like a blow to Lily's self-perception. She had no answer to that, giving him a blank stare. With no intention of being rude.
He laughed inwardly.
Is she a good girl? Considering the fact that she lied to her mother and snuck out of the house is a perfect example of her not being a good person.
"Not exactly," she finally managed to utter, her response leaving a lingering tension in the air as silence settled between them, with unnerving anticipation of what Mark might ask next. His gaze trailed her body, causing Lily's nerves to tighten.
"You look different."
“Oh – “
"In a hot way," his lips tipped up to a smirk. "I like it."
Lily's eyes widened at his bold statement, but she quickly regained her composure, attempting to play it off. "Uh, thanks~," she muttered.
"Do you dance?" he queried, interrupting her hesitant response.
"Uh, not ac—"
"Come with me," Mark offered his hand to Lily, his eyes observing her every move.
"I... Uhmm," Lily hesitated, stealing a glance at her girlfriends, who vigorously nodded their heads in approval. "Okay," she finally relented, placing her hand in his while the other remained occupied with her drink.
Mark helped Lily up from the couch, his eyes lingering on the red cup in her right hand.
"Drink it." He commanded.
"No, ah, I'll just drop it."
"Lily," Mark's interruption was firm and convincing, his eyes penetrating her resistance. "This is a party, and you're obviously very nervous. It will help...drink it."
"Ah, I-" Lily started to object.
"Trust me," Mark interrupted whatever excuse Lily was about to make. "Okay," Lily sighed in defeat, forcing herself to take three large gulps of the drink, suppressing a grimace as she swallowed it all in one go.
A smirk tugged at the corner of Mark's lips as he observed her finish the drink. Taking the cup from her hand, he placed it on a nearby table. Lily offered him a forced smile, raising her eyebrows in a questioning manner. The party wasn't going as she had pictured; she wished it was Ethan holding her hands instead.
With Lily's hands tightly clasped in his, Mark began to lead her forward, but she hesitated, glancing back at her friends seated on the couch. Emily nodded reassuringly, while Sarah, Sarah, being as hyper as ever, gave Lily an exaggerated thumbs up, shaking her head vigorously, then started teasing her with fake kisses.
Lily eyed Sarah, her gaze full of both gratitude and annoyance. Mark looked at Lily, then glanced at her friends. Suddenly, they were back to their normal selves, pretending to be in a conversation. He redirected Lily’s attention, and she forced another fake smile, her heart yearning for a different person. As Mark held her hands, they made their way toward a small crowd of people dancing where the music was loudest.
* * *
As Lily was led by Mark, she noticed many eyes on her, both from girls and boys she knew and those she didn't. The girls whispered among themselves, and the boys looked at her as if she were a newfound treasure to hunt.
Finally, as they reached the crowd, Lily looked around, trying to figure out how exactly people danced. She couldn't make much sense of it; they all had their different styles. Some girls were tightly glued to their dance partners, while others were simply having fun on their own. Feeling self-conscious, Lily moved hesitantly, awkwardly twisting and turning her hands to the rhythm, which was quite an embarrassing sight.
Mark chuckled inwardly. "You really don't know how to dance, huh?"
"Hmmm?" Lily furrowed her eyebrows, caught off guard by his comment.
Sensing her unease, Mark wrapped one hand around her waist. Lily's body froze at his touch. It was the first time a guy had ever placed his hands there. She looked at him nervously, avoiding his gaze.
Mark then spun her around, his hand still on her waist. He pulled her closer, his warm breath tickling her ear as he whispered, "Now, do what you were doing."
Lily was stunned, unable to move. Mark's proximity made her heart race.
"We are just dancing, aren't we?" Mark asked, his voice filled with mischief, as he pulled her even closer, his hot breath tingling the skin on her neck and sending shivers down her back. He was so close. She could feel the hardness of his muscled pecs pressing against her back.
"Yes, we are," she managed to whisper, her voice shaking. Lily started moving to the music, her mind filled with questions. Was this how people danced at parties? Were they this free with each other?
They danced in sync, her movements guided by Mark's hands. Lily seemed more relaxed as the music flowed through her veins. Maybe it was the alcohol taking effect, or maybe she just finally let loose. Who knows? But one thing was for sure: she was having fun.
Mark whipped her around to face him. And Lily continued dancing, her eyes locked with his. They were so alluring and sexy, she didn’t know it but she was pulling him in.
He watched her carefully, following her every move. His eyes filled with lust and admiration. Never had he been this attracted to a girl his age. Maybe it was also alcohol or was it just him? Whatever it was, he couldn’t control it.
Slowly, Mark's hands left her waist, allowing her to dance freely. He took steps away, still watching her intently, as he made his way to a tray of drinks, grabbing another red cup to blur his mind racing with thoughts. As he took sips of his drink, his eyes remained fixed on Lily as she swayed her hips and raised her hands with abandon. The lust in his eyes grew as he watched her every twist and turn.
Other guys on the dance floor seemed to be getting closer to Lily, but Mark immediately gulped down his drink hastily and rushed to her, causing the boys who were getting closer to immediately flee. They knew better than to mess with Mark's girl.
"Yes, that's it. Relax," he encouraged Lily.
She looked up at him, her movements infused with the effects of alcohol as it had dulled her senses, yet she remained aware of her surroundings.
"Yeah!" she exclaimed.
Mark moved closer, his face just inches from Lily's. "This is what you do at parties, Lily," he murmured.
"You have fun, not just sitting around," he added.
Blushing, Lily confessed, "It's my first time at an actual party."
"Don't stop," Mark urged as he noticed Lily becoming more reserved.
Placing his hands on her waist, he turned her around so her back was against his chest. Mark noticed that the more she looked at his face, the more nervous she became. And so, she automatically started dancing again.
But Lily was more aware of her surroundings. As they danced, she felt his body getting too close—way too close—as his stiff c**k pressed into her lower back with more urgency. Her body tensed up at the sensation, and she immediately turned around to face him, finding a pair of longing eyes observing her every move. Those eyes made her feel a heat between her legs, and it strangely drew her in.
His face was now only inches from hers as his eyes roamed around her body, then landed on her lips. Lily was getting signals she wasn’t ready for but she was surprisingly drawn in.
Suddenly snapping out of her daze, she regained control and took a step, dancing with newfound energy. Mark watched her with a face adorned with a grin, fully aware of her reaction.
Mark looked at Lily with a face accompanied by a grin. He knew exactly what she did.
"Maybe we should go somewhere quiet and talk," he said, his voice in the most seductive tone.
