"Maybe we should go somewhere quiet and talk," his voice resonated in a seductive tone that sent a shiver down Lily's spine. She was about to nod in agreement, tempted by his words, but a flicker of hesitation suddenly sparked within her. "Uhmm, yeah, I'll just go to the restroom for a sec," Lily said, avoiding Mark's intense gaze. He flashed a small smile at her and nodded in response. Navigating through the crowd of dancing people, Lily turned her head back every now and then, stealing glances at Mark. His eyes followed her every move as he sat at the bar, gulping down yet another drink. Lily finally reached a door that appeared to be the entrance to the restroom. Opening it, she sighed in relief to find it empty. After washing her hands in the sink, she stared at her reflection in the mirror, the memory of Mark's face drawing close to hers echoing through her mind. She immediately shook her head, trying to dispel those thoughts. 'Was he going to kiss me?' she wondered, her mind racing with uncertainty. 'No, no, no, no’ the words bounced back in her mind as she suddenly remembered when Mark and Ethan dropped her off at her house. this was definitely what he meant by “starting from you.” “Lily, yes he’s hot, but that doesn’t mean you should give yourself to him,” she said, looking at her reflection in the mirror. ‘Don’t fall, Lily, his tricks’ Suddenly, the restroom door swung open, interrupting Lily's thoughts. Two stunning girls stood there, one with straight brunette hair and the other with curly brown hair. They weren’t high school seniors, so they were definitely college girls. Their presence made Lily feel nervous as she attempted to make her way to the exit, but the curly-haired girl blocked her path. "Hey," the brunette called for Lily's attention. "Yes?" Lily slowly raised her head to see a familiar face. It was a senior from the previous year. She remembered her well because she was always at Mark's feet, willing to do anything for his attention. "Are you Mark's new girl?" the brunette asked, her tone tinged with accusation. "Huh, no, no, that's not it. We were just dancing," Lily stammered, trying to defend herself. "Dancing?" the curly-haired girl repeated, her voice edgy. "b***h, you were all over his body." "Do you think we're toddlers? He was about to f*****g kiss you," the brunette raged, her tone sharp and slicing. She rolled her eyes before letting out a sigh. Many eyes were, in fact, on Lily and Mark during their dance. Some looked on with admiration, while others with jealousy. These girls clearly fell into the latter category. "Wrong choice, by the way," the curly-haired girl sneered. "He belongs to seniors... us," the brunette said. "I'm just trying to warn you." "We don't want your poor little heart to be broken," the curly-haired girl added, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “You can’t handle him, you’re too weak, your eyes say it all.” The brunette said “he will never date you but will f**k you, then f**k other girls even when you think you both have something” the brunette said with a sharp tone and voice slicing through the air that surrounded lily. "I know," Lily muttered under her breath. "Find someone else and leave him with us," the brunette said, her words laced with a mix of warning and superiority. With that, she brushed past Lily, intentionally bumping her shoulder, before walking out of the restroom, leaving Lily alone with the other girl. "His d**k belongs to us, sweety. I don't want to see your lil ass around him again," the girl said, her gaze full of disdain. She eyed Lily one last time before exiting the restroom, leaving Lily utterly speechless. Unable to comprehend what had just occurred, Lily stood there in stunned silence. All of this happened just because she danced with Mark! She knew getting involved with Mark was probably not the best idea, but a tiny voice in her head had resurfaced, whispering, 'Just give it a try.' The voice she had buried two years ago now reemerged as she basked in his newfound attention. Taking deep breaths to calm herself, Lily finally stepped out of the restroom, her eyes scanning the room for Mark's piercing gaze. However, to her surprise, he was nowhere to be found. The amount of time she spent in the restroom might have changed something between them. Although disappointment could be clearly seen on her face, she couldn't help but feel relieved that he was no longer there. His words, "Somewhere quiet and talk," continued to echo in her mind, repeating over and over. Talk about what exactly? What was it they had to discuss, and why did it have to be somewhere quiet? Though Lily might be what you call ‘somewhat innocent’, she wasn't oblivious. She knew he definitely didn’t just want to talk. * * * The eyes on Lily became more intense as she was now left alone at the party, where she both knew and didn't know some of the people. Lily walked through the twists and turns of the house, hoping to find either Sarah or Emily, but she didn't even catch a glimpse of their shadows. Her nerves surged as people she didn't know tried to approach her, and she quickly made excuses to leave the conversation before it even started. A handsome face appeared in her mind, accompanied by his voice saying, "Drink it, it helps calm your nerves." Lily shook her head vigorously as she heard his voice in her mind. There was nowhere she was going to listen to Mark! literally anybody but him. "Trust me.". "No!" The words escaped her mind in a loud voice, turning heads in her direction. Suddenly, a dark-skinned boy with curly hair approached, holding a red cup in one hand and another red cup in the other. He smiled genuinely as he offered her the drink. "Here, I think you need this," he said. Lily hesitated, but the boy's inviting smile was reassuring. Maybe if she took the cup, she wouldn't be listening to Mark but to someone else. "Yeah, thanks," she said, grabbing the cup. He turned around and stood next to her. "Lily, right?" he asked. Lily scanned his face, trying to place his name. He looked like a schoolmate. "It's Charles, ouch," he teased, pretending to clutch his heart with his hand as he took a sip of his drink. "Sorry, I'm..." "No, it's okay. Just drink up," he assured her. "You don't look like the party type, though." "I mean, it's our celebration, so I just had to—" Lily started, but she was stunned as a larger boy appeared, wrapping his hands around Charles' shoulders. They laughed and chatted, and soon another boy joined them, holding a glass of wine. As Charles and the two boys continued their conversation, Charles glanced at Lily a few times. She was nervous but relieved that the boys didn't pay much attention to her. She sat behind Charles on the bar stool, sipping her drink until it was finished. "Here you go," the boy with the bottle of wine offered her. Lily took the glass without saying anything and refilled her cup with the wine, not noticing the admiration in Charles' and the other boy's eyes as they watched her take big gulps of the drink. Lily kept drinking in silence, finishing the volume in her cup and refilling it until her bottle of wine was empty. "Hey, where can I get more of this?" drunk Lily said sluggishly, swinging the empty bottle of wine at the boy who had given it to her. "Come with me, I'll show you," he said as he tried to help Lily up from her seat. "No," Charles said, using his hand to block the boy. He then turned to Lily. "Lily, I think you've had enough." The tall, huge boy who had been observing them dragged Charles away. "She wants it, so let him give it to her," he said as he dragged Charles away. Then, quietly, as he moved closer to Charles, he whispered in his ear, "What the f**k is your problem, dude?" "Get the f**k off me!" Charles tried to free himself, but it was no use. The other boy was much bigger and taller, pinning him in place. Meanwhile, Lily and the other guy were now walking away, his hands around her waist, as he led her to an unknown place. * * * The boy led her out to the backyard, where they encountered another crowd of people, mostly wearing swimsuits. It seemed like another party altogether. In the center was a huge pool with people in their clothes, swimwear, and underwear playing around in it. Lily, who was being carried by the unknown boy, looked up and saw the exciting new scene. Her eyes brightened at the sight of the pool. "I want to get in the pool," she said as she pushed away from the boy, but he quickly regained his balance and rushed back to her. "No, let's get the wine first," he said, blocking her view of the pool and trying to lead her away. However, something gave her more strength to push him again with all her might—jealousy. Her eyes widened at the sight of Mark at the far end of the pool, sandwiched between two girls. The girl on the left showered him with kisses, while the other seductively touched his bare chest. It was an irritating and annoying sight. Lily knew he was like this, but experiencing it made her blood boil. The boy tried to turn her attention back to him as he put his hands around her neck and whipped her around, but Lily was too furious to be stopped. She tried to fight back. "I want to get in the pool!" she screamed, turning heads and causing the boy to panic. "Sure, get in," he said, raising his hands in surrender as he slowly left her, drawing whispers and eyes as they followed him. Lily walked around the pool, almost tripping but managing to regain her stamina. Her mind kept urging her to get in the pool, but the rational side of her fought back. She spotted a cup and a glass of wine on a stool next to one of the chaise lounge chairs. She walked to it and laid on the floor next to the stool, and poured the wine into the red cup. Taking a small sip, lily glanced back at Mark, who was still flirtatious with the girls by his side. She immediately looked away, gritting her teeth. She kept taking large gulps of the wine to suppress her jealousy until she noticed a familiar lean body with soft muscles bulging out of his slightly transparent soaked top swimming to the end where Mark was. Lily blinked back her eyes and looked further to see Ethan’s beautiful features on his face, as his wet silky long hair fell on it in a casual way, making him look as sexy as ever. He reached the end and a girl swam toward him, but he kept his distance, as he greeted Mark with some gestures. The boy she was anticipating to talk to had finally shown up. “I don’t give a f**k, I'm definitely entering this pool” She forced herself to stand up from the icy cold floor, stumbling but managing to do so. She found herself just outside the middle of the pool, which was already too deep for her. She wanted to go to the end where Ethan was, but the pool had been designed so that you couldn't directly enter the deep side. There were little fountains around it. Lily took off her jacket, threw it on the lounge chair, and was just about to jump in the pool when she fell down on the cold floor, but that didn’t stop her. She stood up again, her vision now blurry and her body feeling heavy. Lily suddenly couldn’t carry herself anymore! Shortly, lily fell into the pool, crashing into the water as her body immediately began to sink. Her mind slowly drifting into darkness, as she tried to flap her hands in the pool, but it only made things worse. “Mark – Ethan – help!” she managed to mumble out, screaming for help as she finally gave in to the darkness.
