Thomas and Eva returned from their walk to find that Sol had finished both her practice test and the actual one. She was eager to scan the test and submit it, and Thomas had no doubt she had aced it.
It was then that he received a surprising call from Jake. It seemed that over the last few days of their journey Jake had been seeing Marie rather often, to where they were becoming an item. Perhaps Thomas shouldn’t have been surprised—the two were attractive, interesting people on a common mission together. It happened. But Thomas couldn’t help but chuckle when his ex-Navy SEAL friend went on and on about how fascinating Marie was and how well she could communicate with the dolphins and that he really needed to spend some time alone with her to “compare notes.”
