you were cheating on him...
It was literally the worst day of Mia's life, she has to move into the house of her mother's lover.
"Mom you had been in a relationship with Mr. Danvers before dad's death, you were cheating on him"... Mia looked away with displeasure. "Mia don't you think you shouldn't talk to your mom in that tone and as for your father I loved him but he's dead and we can't change a thing about that", "we'll be moving into James's house today so go freshen up, meet you by the car". Michelle let out a grin and slowly walked away.
Few hours later
Michelle drove in with a sleek red Mercedes-Benz C - Class rolled into the danvers' parking lot, its glossy paint flashing under the afternoon sun. The tinted windows hid her until the engine went silent with a low, expensive purr. Silver rims gleamed against the crimson body.
He stepped out of the house just as the engine of her car went silent in the lot, there she was sitting behind the wheel with a soft, unreadable smile. Her daughters' beside her, arms folded, eyes cold and inhospitable as if he were a stranger they had already decided to dislike.
He adjusted his stance, forcing a calm he didn’t fully feel, while her gaze met his like a memory she hadn’t stopped loving.
Between the warmth in her eyes and the silence of her children, stood everything they had never properly explained. He slowly but steadily moved closer to Michelle giving her a warm hug he's eyes met with her daughters signalling welcome.
"Hey watch it, you've managed to move into my rich home and get a room quite close to mine but don't make the mistake of crossing my path likewise entering my room else I'll make your life hell", Cole looked away with disgust and furiously strolled into his room, letting out a sarcastic sigh he grabbed into the door handle pushing it onto the wall locked the bolt.
While all this was happening, Mia watched him run his mouth afterwards let out a sigh and went closer to the kitchen grabbed the refrigerator handle, opening it she grabbed an apple intending to bite it as well as all her frustrations but Cole in the nick of time grabbed the same apple looking at her in an aggressive manner as though he would take her neck off her face but for a moment their hands were together on the apple they stared in each others eyes, both trying so hard to reason why they were actually staring.
"I know you think this might be your house but I need you to clearly understand that our parents are getting married in a couple of weeks and it'll be best if we avoided creating a ruckus in the house" Mia said with all the calmness she could gather, letting go of the apple she stepped on him rather knowingly saying,"
I am not in any way scared of who the hell you think you are,I'm gonna give you s**t if you want some...,"Don't you think you can come into my house and talk s**t to me..."Cole jumped in but was interrupted by James;
"Hey hey both of you,Cole this here is gonna be your sister in a few weeks, don't you think you should walk to her with some concern maybe love..."
Cole immediately let out a low scoff dragging his hand through his hair like the conversation was already exhausting him, slowly moving towards his room.
"I'm gonna need you down in a minute for lunch, don't miss it huh." James said before heading for pthe stairs that leads to the dining room.
Mia left alone quietly walked towards her room.
Soon everyone was seated at the dining table stretched beneath the soft golden lights, filled with untouched dishes and the faint clinking of cutlery. An awkward silence hung heavily in the air as everyone sat stiffly in their seats.
Michelle kept her gaze lowered while her two daughters Mia and Amelia sat quietly beside her, Mia and cole exchanging heated looks created a weird atmosphere . Across from them, James glanced around the table, noticing the tension thick enough to choke on.
After a long moment, he cleared his throat and forced out a small smile. “Well… the food is getting cold.”
A few soft chuckles escaped, instantly easing the suffocating silence. Plates began moving around the table, forks finally scraping against dishes as everyone slowly started eating, the atmosphere becoming a little less tense with each passing second.
"Uh..humm.....uhh, I'll quickly introduce everyone here. James this is my bride to be Michelle Allison, her daughters Mia and Amelia and Michelle this is James my only son.
Michelle looked sternly at James then moved her gaze to cole pushing out a soft smile."Hi James...," "You know I'll really appreciate it if we quietly enjoy this food, like you said dad it's getting cold." Cole rudely interrupted taking up his glass of pure orange juice, sipping while standing about to exit the dinning table.
James looked up aggressively towards his son, his palm slammed against the dining table with a sharp bang, making the plates rattle slightly.
“Cole have your seat,” he barked at his son, his voice cold and bold . “You now remember that she's going to be my wife and your mother .”
Cole froze halfway out of his chair, jaw tightening as tension thickened around the table. Michelle lowered her hand awkwardly, while her daughters exchanged uneasy glances. He quickly turned and reluctantly sat down.
"Enough," his father’s voice boomed across the dining room.
The clinking of cutlery stopped instantly.
He slowly pushed his chair back, his jaw tight as his eyes locked at Michelle.
“You really want me to remain calm while another woman who doesn't deserve Mom's place to come into our home?” he said coldly. “Then maybe you should tell us why Mom really died.”
His father’s expression darkened immediately, silence immediately crashed over the table.
And for the first time that night, fear appeared in his father’s eyes.
“Watch your tone.”
A mocking smile tugged at his lips as he leaned back in his chair, eyes flickering toward the woman seated beside his father.
“Funny,” he muttered. “Considering nobody at this table even knows the full story.”
The atmosphere instantly turned heavy.
One of the girls exchanged a nervous glance with her mother while his father’s grip tightened around his glass.
“That’s enough,” his father warned coldly.
But he only chuckled under his breath before pushing his chair back.
“Ask him what really happened the night my mother left.”
Dead silence filled the dining room.
Then....
