Chapter 2 Mother

"Who are you?" Aria asked, looking into those eyes. "I asked first." The wolf in the bush asked, along with a low growl. "I am Aria," Aria replied helplessly, "of the Bluemoon pack, but I was kicked out not long ago." "You're a lone wolf, a rogue," came an icy voice from below, and the atmosphere in the dark forest became intense. "Don't think of grinding the rope to escape, this rope is made of spider silk. Even if it breaks, you can't escape, but rather be wrapped tighter and tighter because of the net contraction." Hearing this, Aria stopped moving, and in the next second, the net descended slowly and loosened instead. Aria stood up on the ground and watched as the yellow eyes came out of the shrubbery, "Come with me. I will help." Five years later. "It's so hot, Mom! I'm craving for ice cream." Adrian Nelson said while taking Zara's hand in his and adoringly looking up at her. "All right, but you can only have one." Zara took a bill from her wallet and handed it to him. "Please come back here as soon as you have it, Aunt Becca’s house is close here. I'll wait for you." Zara was holding a suitcase in her hand. "Yes, Mom!" Adrian quickly snatched the money from her grasp and dashed away. Zara tried to slow him down with a warning word, but he soon vanished from her sight. Suddenly, her phone rang at that precise moment. "Hello? Becca, we're already in your neighborhood. I'm gonna take a taxi to get there." It was Zara's best friend, Becca Felix. Back in college, Zara, Sia, and Becca were close friends. They were almost inseparable and vowed to be each other's lifelong best friends. Zara realized how hypocritical Sia was being after the coronation five years ago, so they stopped talking to each other. Sia even sent warriors to kill her, but fortunately met a rogue on the road. She took her to her place where she gave birth to Adrian and also helped her contact Becca. Only Becca remained a friend to Zara, and she would even call her occasionally during her years abroad. Becca also helped Zara and Adrian in joining the Newmoon Pack where she was a part of after convincing her pack's Alpha and Luna. So, they were no longer rogues. Becca’s Alpha and Lune were extremely kind. In fact, they even invited them to their house. After Zara hung up the phone, she saw the news on a nearby commercial huge screen. It said, “Alpha Marcus and Luna Sia will be hosting a fifth-anniversary coronation dinner on the 26th of this month.” "Sia? Is it true that he married Sia?" Zara thought to herself. Sia got Zara drunk and sent her to the hotel five years ago on the night of the mate gathering. She also lied to Zara, saying Alpha Marcus was waiting for her at the hotel. All of it was due to Sia’s betrayal and greed of getting the throne of being Luna from her. "Why are you running so fast, kiddo? Which wolf pack do you belong to?" An angry man asked. Hearing the small commotion, Zara looked back, and she couldn’t help but be surprised. Adrian was holding the ice cream he'd just purchased, but he accidentally brushed up on someone while he was running back to his mother. Zara approached them right away. She felt guilty when she noticed a large ice cream stain on the man's suit pants. "He was in a hurry, so please accept my apologies. Allow me to clean it up for you," she respectfully said. Then, she pulled out a handkerchief from her purse and attempted to wipe the man's pants. Before she could wipe it dry though, he quickly clutched her wrist as her hand touched his thigh. "What are you doing?" he asked coldly. The man made her feel threatened. She looked up subconsciously and met his cold eyes. When she saw the man' face clearly, she gasped. For a moment, she thought she was merely dreaming. She thought he looked too much like her son and kept thinking if she had ever seen him somewhere. She couldn't hide her shock as she kept staring on him, observing every bit of his facial appearance. "How come you're still staring at me?" The man shrugged off her hand and asked indifferently. When Zara snapped back to her senses, she was surprised because she suspected that the man was her son's father. She found that her son resembled him in some ways. She chuckled and said, "I sincerely apologize! What about I pay you for a new pair of pants?" "That's not necessary. I hope you can to teach your son to slow down and not run on crowded streets," the man expressed his displeasure. "King Darius' clothes are specially tailored for him, and you won't be able to afford them." Beta Tyler, the assistant standing behind Darius Harrington, said arrogantly. He was the one who had yelled at Adrian earlier. "It's nothing more than a pair of pants! I'll pay for it!" Adrian angrily said, although Zara was stopping him. Darius stared at the little boy because he thought he looked familiar. "How do you plan on you paying for it, little kid?" Beta Tyler asked with a snort. "Here! Is this enough?" Adrian pulled out a piggy bank from his backpack and dumped all the pocket money inside. Darius couldn't help but smile after seeing his pocket money, which was rare for him because he had an aloof personality. "You can keep your pocket money, Kid. I hope you could watch out when you're walking in the future," Darius said, his tone becoming a little softer. "Are you looking down on me, Sir?" Adrian frowned while looking up at the tall man I front of him. "I'm really sorry," Zara immediately stopped Adrian and apologized again. With that, she quickly brushed past Darius as she grabbed her son's hand and left. Darius was also leaving. However, as Zara passed by, he noticed a familiar scent. His eyes widened, and he came to an instant halt. When he turned around, she was already walking away with her kid. "Do you want them to pay for it, King Darius?" Beta Tyler asked while confusingly looking at Darius upon seeing his reaction. Darius narrowed his eyes, wondering how that woman had that distinct aroma. In the five years he had been there, he had smelled various scents on many women but never found the one he was looking for. "Look up that woman's information." He gave the order calmly. "Got it." Beta Tyler was baffled, but nodded anyway. Zara and Adrian took a taxi to Becca's house from the airport. Zara had the impression that the man could make her heart race faster. Also, she felt like someone was watching her from behind the second she had left with Adrian. Soon, they arrived at Becca's house and found her waiting for them at the door. Becca couldn't wait to meet Zara, so she ran fast and hug her as soon as she saw her get out of the car. "Zara, you've returned! I really missed you!" "Relax, just relax. I can't breathe with you hugging me so tightly!" Zara couldn't bear her friend's warm embrace. "Come on, let me see you!" Becca let go and focused her gaze on Zara, observing everything about her. "You're still in good shape. You should look for another hot stud!" Even though she was crying out of happiness, Becca still managed to compliment her friend. "Aunt Becca, what's a hot stud?" Adrian stood next to Zara with his little suitcase, blinking at Becca with innocent eyes. "You're Adrian, right? You're so handsome and cute! You must have gotten your good-looking face from your mommy!" Becca exclaimed when she saw Adrian, and then, she hugged him tightly into her arms. "Mommy! Help me!" Adrian struggled and waved his hands at his mother for help. He looked as if he had been captured by a monster. "She's your godmother, not a monster," Zara said with an amused smile. "Yes, yes, I'm your godmother. Come on, repeat the phrase." "I don't want a godmother. I want my daddy! "Adrian suddenly exclaimed with a pout.
