Everyone has secrets. Some small like what you think about your best friends new shoes. And some large like never paying taxes. My next door neighbour Darla works as a nurse at St. Mary’s hospital and blood bank. That’s where she eats her dinners unless we go out and she catches a live meal. Darla is half human and half vampire created by illegal experimentation using magic and forced breeding. My neighbour two doors down, Dave is a park ranger and an avid hiker. He’s built like a line backer and once a month he goes hiking and transforms into a vugudlak to hunt. I’m not sure of how many people he’s killed but every month he comes back smelling like human blood. My name is Melody Smith, I’m half human and half demon. I work as a bartender at Z’s, a very famous hang out spot for the supernatural. That’s my world vampires, demons and hybrids. I have always craved love as much as I need to breathe. I honestly always new I would never find love but being half what I am prevents me from being truthful to anyone I grow to care about.
