Meeting Monica for the first time

I looked silently at Harry with his confidence that he showed right now. I hoped he wouldn’t get into any trouble by this. He seemed to notice my worry as he added:

“Don’t look at me like this, I’m your senior and I know better than you. Now let’s get this done at the radiology department so we can go down and check that kid down there.”

I nodded my head while the name of the radiology department still gave me some bad feelings. I followed him while walking into the long corridor that was nearly empty from anyone until we exited it into a wide hall.

A long row of patients and their families were lined in front of a metallic door with a large sign with the name of the radiological department at the top of it.

That was where we were heading, and that long crowd of patients made it hard for us to enter the department, however Harry had his own ways even at this time.

“Make way, we have an urgent case, make way, doctors are passing.”

His yelling made the hard task simpler as nearly all of the patients created a path for us to pass through. I followed his steps till we ended up standing in front of a thick glass door, where one nurse was waiting for us there with her uniform.

She was wearing a short skirt with a tight short sleeves shirt with the hospital logo on it. she was younger than me, however she had more confidence than I had.

She looked at the two of us as her stunning face beamed with a wide smile while she greeted Harry by saying:

“Welcome Dr. Harry, Dr Sara is waiting for you inside,” she then gave me a short glance as she added with a tone, “Is he with you?”

“Yes, he is my new intern, stay away from him Monica,” Harry replied with a chuckle as he pushed the door to enter the department. Monica looked again at me while muttering with low voice yet I could hear it:

“Why are all the new interns this hot?!”

Her comment was a surprise for me, as this was the first time I had ever heard someone commenting on me like this. I just glanced at her then I made a foolish move, as I leaned slightly towards her while passing through as I said in lower voice:

“If you want to know why, we can meet and discuss this in detail.”

I also added a wink before I hurried with a racing heartbeats after Harry who seemed to realize something. Once I reached him he hit my side with his elbow while saying:

“Don’t play around here, we aren’t flirting with people, we treat them.”

I chuckled as I gestured with my head towards Monica as I replied:

“She isn’t a patient.”

He laughed as he vaguely said:

“Her condition is much worse than any patient here, believe me. now follow me carefully and focus.”

Harry then moved through a wider hall than the one we just came from heading towards a sideway corridor. The whole hall was covered by a cold metallic layer that made it more like the operation rooms.

There were some patients moving with the company of some nurses. I noticed nearly most of them were wearing long trousers with long sleeves shirts, but I saw two who wore like Monica uniforms that made my heart tremble more vigorously in my chest.

“Focus.”

Harry suddenly said in a way that startled me. I didn’t know why he was enjoying this moment . I looked straight forward to avoid any more embarrassing moments, as we entered a narrow short path that was full of closed doors and quiet atmosphere.

It was totally opposite to the noisy hall inside or outside this department. Harry seemed to know his way, as he passed three doors on the left then knocked on the fourth door before entering.

I followed to find a female doctor wearing a white medical coat with long noisy hair that seemed so hard to be organized in one bundle, but she did it. once we entered she said without moving her head from the monitor screen that she was observing:

“Wait a second here and I will be with you right away.”

“It’s me, should I also wait?”

Once Harry spoke she left the screen and jumped off her seat as she yelled at him:

“You are one hour late, where the hell were you?”

Harry chuckled as he pointed towards me while saying:

“He is my new junior, can you please give me some face?”

“Never, you always love to treat me this way since we were interns. Let me repay some of your kindness,” she then looked at me while adding with a grin, “Heed my advice and leave this jerk here. He doesn’t worth your time.”

I felt weird as I didn’t know what to say or do. Both looked at me for a couple moments before bursting into a wave of laughter that told me everything. They were messing up with me.

What I didn’t understand was this chemistry between the two, as they both compliment each other without any prior agreement. If I was rude then I would think of her as his girlfriend.

I pictured the two next to each other, one with a fat body and the other with messy hair. Perfect couple with one soul and compatible chemistry which made me chuckle.

“Why are you smiling? Don’t tell me your small head had dirty thoughts already about us?”

Sara said while pointing her fingers to me. I felt embarrassed as she guessed right what I was thinking about. I didn’t know what I should say, however Harry added to the fire with his own mix:

“I told you, we should hang out together in the open or else kids like him will misunderstand our relationship.”

She crossed her arms while glaring at me while saying to Harry:

“Which is? Are we lovers? You know you aren’t my type.”

I looked at her while she was still glaring at me. Was she blaming me or playing me? I still didn’t figure out anything until one nurse entered the room when we three were in this awkward situation.

“Oh, don’t tell me you are playing this new junior again!”

I turned to look at her while Sara said with a regretful tone:

“C’mon, we just exchanged the first lines with him. Why have you come here so soon Renad?”

“There is a patient in the CT room waiting for your permission and you are here playing this trick again with your brother. Are you finished?”

Her words hit me as I didn’t expect the couple to be a brother and sister. I looked with disbelief towards the two while Harry muttered:

“We didn’t have enough fun this time, it’s all your fault Renad.”

“Me? c’mon, this is the third junior to taste your trick this week. Aren’t you tired of this? It’s getting old already, you two are getting old.”

“Hahaha, ok we will end the fun here. let the patient be ready, in ten minutes I will start his CT scan.”

Sara said that to Renad then she turned to me as she said:

“Don’t look at me like this, this trick is so fun.”

“Yes, it’s fun when you aren’t part of it,” I replied spontaneously, which made the three in the room laugh again.
