A Medical Condition

“Now, what are you going to do regarding your patient Jasper?” the sister asked with a serious tone which was exactly the same as the tone she spoke with us a few moments ago. She was a real actor, or perhaps there was a chemistry between the two of them. they might be even twins, separated by a few years perhaps. “Frankly I don’t know, his vitals are good, however all the labs aren’t that promising,” Harry replied with a tiring tone. He seemed in a dilemma, however I didn’t know why. The two were speaking about a patient, and it seemed that the patient 's condition wasn’t opportunistic. “That’s not an answer, do you want to do a bone scan for him or not?” The sister still asked straight forward, which made me feel doubt towards her. This personality of hers wasn’t something I liked to deal with, I preferred her funny nature from before. “I think the odds of body scan would be unfavorable for him, especially if he had no tumor. I don’t know, I came here to ask you about your opinion,” Harry said as he squeezed his head with both of his palms. This was strange for me, as she was a radiologist, and as far I knew doctors like her wouldn’t be able to give such medical advice. I felt he was asking for her personal opinion as his sister, however she replied with the same seriousness: “I think you should go for non-invasive investigations before invasive one. The other option you have is to send the kid to surgery and take a sample out of that lump and analyze it, which isn’t a better choice here.” Harry nodded his head with a long sigh before saying: “I know, but  bone scan isn’t a better option too. The hazards of this action isn’t something I wanted a kid like him to deal with.” Sara looked straight forward towards the eyes of her brother silently for a few moments, then she said: “What about doing a Ct scan first?” He looked at her as he asked: “Ct scan on what? On the swelling on his neck?” “No, I mean on his chest. if there was a tumor with that size in this area, then the first possible place for it to spread to would be the lungs. I believe this would be a midway solution between the two options,” Sara said. Harry thought for a few moments as he was looking on the ground while muttering in inaudible voice. “The LDH levels are high, CBC is very bad. There are no blasts, however that doesn’t mean the lump is benign. This CT would give you a general direction, or else you should go for the surgery first before coming to me.” Sara added as she was trying to help him. For me I didn’t know what the two were talking about, and frankly I couldn’t say a word about what the two were debating about. This medical case was way above me, way higher to the degree I couldn’t even open my mouth to ask. I didn’t even know what or from where I should ask. Harry stood in his place motionless for a while before he opened his mouth and said: “I will do a CT scan for his chest and let’s see if there is any spread in his lungs. If the results were inconclusive then I will send him for surgery.” “That’s the right decision. I will schedule it for tonight to be done, I will wait for you to send the kid here,” Sara said before turning to look at me before adding, “You have a long way with this loss look on your face. Next time I want you to tell me a brief over the kid’s case.” I didn’t know what to say, however like a good boy I nodded to her while thanking god that she wasn’t my senior. She seemed so tough on her juniors, I had to be grateful her brother didn’t end up being like her. “Good, now I have a CT to make. When you are ready just give me the call, and don’t come, I want this kid to handle everything.” I looked at her with surprise, as she seemed to be fixated on testing me. This was literally my first day here, however up to now it felt like a long week, and it seemed it didn’t intend to end so soon.
