His Graceful Queen

She was walking down the alley, nothing new, nothing different than the usual. Just walking home in the cold, rainy weather. She was freezing a bit; it had been 3 years since she last got new clothes. All her clothes were way too small. She was 17, and last time she got new clothes, was before her body evolved into the body with curves she was ‘lucky´ having. She was not tall, 5,3 ft tall, had blond hair, like the sun had kissed it to long and cobolt blue eyes. She was alone in the world, well almost alone, she lived in an orphanage with 30 other children. But soon, very soon, she would be to old to live there, and she would have to move to the streets. She had heard many stories of what happened to girls like her, when they moved away from the orphanage. The kids at school told her often, some of the boys even smirked, while they promised to show her one day, when she was no longer hiding behind the walls of the orphanage. The wind was cold, to the brink of freezing. Her short yellow cotton blouse and the stretched black leggings she had fixed over and over again couldn’t keep her body warm, and the old navy blue jacket she wore was so worn out and ragged that it was almost just two pairs of thin fabric hold together by a thousand homemade stitches. She was cold from the inside out and held her grey back in her hand. The straps had been destroyed a while ago, and this time she couldn’t fix it and just like everything it was ragged and to small for all her books. Today she was carrying even more books, she had promised a few of the kids at the orphanage to teach them how to read. She was one of the few fortunate ones allowed to go to school. The other kids weren’t allowed. They had to take care of each other and earn money for the orphanage, but since she handled all the big chores, she was allowed, as long as she still handled the chores. She got warned when the headmaster of the orphanage enlisted her, if she ever slips up, she would never be going to school again. School was her sanctuary, it didn't really matter that she got bullied, hit pushed or sometimes even fondled by the boys. It was still a better place than the orphanage, with the headmasters looks and creeping up on her. That’s why she kept working hard on all her chores, cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, feeding the little ones. Who knew what was going happen to her if she had to stay around the headmaster every day. She had seen his looks as she grew older, and she had heard the stories from the girls who turned 18, she dreaded the day, the 10th of February. Only 6 weeks left.
