Hannah stared at the Brown and blue haired woman who looked at her with worry and wondered why she called her a cupcake. She had seen her before, it was the girl who picked up Xander the day he fought with Bryan. She wanted to ask her who she was, but she felt so tired. Her body was heavy, there was some needle in her hand. Hannah tried to sit up, but she couldn’t, move at all and something was tied around her entire upper body. She looked down and saw a white and purple coloured nightgown. It wasn’t hers. Hannah looked around, the room was white and there was a lot of machines beeping next to her. Her eyes felt so tired, and she closed them again.
The next time she opened up her eyes, she felt someone holding her hand. She looked down and saw a big hand holding hers, she felt her skin tingling she looked towards the owner of the hand and saw some beautiful green eyes. Besides the light from the window behind him the room was almost dark. She smiled. “Hi” she whispered. He looked at her, but before he could say anything, she closed her eyes again and went back to sleep.
Hannah had no idea how many times she woke up and felt asleep, she had no sense of the time or the days. She never was really awake and wasn’t really sure what was real and what wasn’t. Hannah think she noticed, the brown and blue-haired woman, a red haired one looking like a doctor and the 2 other men who she had seen with Xander. Sometimes she even thought, she saw Toby next to her bed. She didn’t see Xander’s eyes or silhouette again after she had spoken to it.
Finally, Hannah opened her eyes, yet again, but this time her body didn’t feel as heavy. She opened her eyes and looked around. She tried to sit up, there was still something bound around her upper body. But her body didn’t hurt as much. When she began to move the brown and blue-haired woman came.
“Hey cupcake, do you need some help to get up.”
Hannah looked at the woman and nodded, “yes please.” She replied, her voice sounded weak.
The woman pressed a button and a part of the bed rose, helping Hannah into a sitting position. The woman also grabbed a pillow and placed it behind Hannah’s back and neck.
Hannah could see the room now in the beautiful daylight. It was huge, several flowers and bouquets was placed on a table next to some comfortable chairs. To her right there was a big window, and a chair. It looked huge and expensive. She looked down on her body, she was in a purple and white nightgown. It felt like silk on her body.
“Where am I?” she asked.
“You are at the hospital, in a private room”
“How long have I been here?”
“It has been 15 days since we found you”
Hannah looked around in the room, it must cost a fortune.
“I can’t afford this; I need to get out”
Hannah tried to move her body, but she still had an IV in her hand.
“Can you please call a doctor to get this out, so I can release myself.” She asked the woman. Hannah might have laughed by the sight of this woman’s face if it wasn’t so serious. She couldn’t afford this in any way, she panicked, what if she had to pay it all back in ways she didn’t want to. Hannah began removing the strips she could, her arms was still weak, but she couldn’t stay.
“Hannah… Hannah, look at me” the woman said, grabbing Hannah’s shoulders, firm but gently.
Hannah looked at her. “I need you to calm down, everything is okay”
“Who are you?”
“My name is Cammie”
“You are one of Xander’s friends!” Hannah stated.
“Yes, I am”
Hannah looked around the room again, “I can’t afford to stay here, can you please get the doctor, so I can get released”
“I can call the doctor, but you aren’t going to be released”
“Cammie, pulled a string for the doctor, and then she sent a text on her phone”
After a few minutes the redhaired woman came.
“Hello, so you are finally complete awake?”
“yeah it would seem so” Hannah smiled.
“My name is Isa, and I need to check all your vitals and numbers okay?”
Hannah nodded.
“First I need to know what you remember, whats your name and age”
“Hannah, I just turned 18”
“Do you know why you are here?”
Hannah nodded but didn’t answer with words, she remembered everything from the night of her birthday, the headmaster, the audience, the shadows. She remembered the smell, and the sound of the flogger, over and over.
Isa, didn’t ask further into the trauma, she knew it would take days, maybe even weeks before the girl could answer with word. She began checking Hannah’s body. She placed her hand on Hannah’s wrist, looked at her eyes and did some memory tests with some cards, made her move her body in small movements.
“Looks like the coma hasn’t done any damage to you”, Isa said, “but you need to take it easy and don’t move around that much, most of your back has healed, but your body is still weak”Isa removed the Iv, and the beeping machines from her body.
“Thank you, but I need you to release me”
“Release you?” Isa asked confused.
“Yes, I can’t afford this”
“Oh, don’t you worry about that, this room is paid for” Isa answered.
“By who?” Hannah wanted to know, who she was going to owe money.
Isa looked at Cammie. Cammie sighed. “By Xander, he owes this part of the hospital”
“He owes a part of the hospital?” Hannah asked confused.
“Yes”
Hannah didn’t know what to say, she knew she had to go out, she didn’t want to be a burden to Xander either. She closed her eyes and sighed.
“Hannah, I can get you a therapist to come and talk with you, about what happened, it is better if you talk about it as soon as possible.” Isa said.
“Thank you for the offer, but I will find one, when I get home” Hannah replied, she knew she couldn’t afford a therapist at the hospital either. She also really needed to go home to the kids. They must be scared and alone, and what about Toby. She felt tears in her eyes, remembering him on the floor.
Isa left the room after the checkup, and Hannah was left with Cammie. After some time, Cammie asked if she wanted anything to drink.
Hannah nodded, and Cammie left the room to get a beverage. As soon as she left the room, Hannah decided that she needed to leave, she couldn’t owe Xander anything more than she already did.
Hannah got out of the bed, her legs feeling weird, she had a hard time standing on them, it took a few minutes to get used to feeling her legs again. She began walking slowly, grabbing by everything she could reach. When she opened the door, there was a long hallway. In the loft there was a sign exit, Hannah began walking towards it. She needed to get back to the kids.
Every step she took, was hard, but she couldn’t leave the children on the orphanage. She finally reached the exit door, and she opened it. The wind hit her, it was a cold wind, but not a freezing one, she was still in the nightgown and she had no shoes on. She knew it would be a cold way to the orphanage, but nothing she hadn’t endured before. She began walking, step by step.
Xander
She is awake, Xander had gotten the text from Cammie a few days back. He had been so relieved and excited, by the thought of her blue eyes but when he had gotten there, she had fallen asleep again. He had stood by her bed in the night. Xavi was moping around; he couldn’t forget the part of his mate’s thigh that he had been looking at. Xander sighed by the thought. When he stood by the bed that night, he had taken her hand feeling the small sparks of their bond on his skin, and he held it while she was asleep, praying to the Moon Goddess for Hannah to soon wake up. But then he had heard it. The weak voice of hers “hi”. He hadn’t even been able to reply before she again fell asleep. His heart as jumped by the excitement. She would be okay; they would be okay.
After Hannah’s wolf had appeared, so had Toby’s aura again. Christian had a theory that Toby’s wolf, somehow was connected to Hannah’s. How they didn’t know yet. That morning, after reassuring Toby 50 times or so, that Hannah would wake up. Xander had left, with Toby, he needed some training, he couldn’t just run around with an alpha wolf and aura he couldn’t control.
At first Toby had been totally confused about the voice of the wolf. He had never heard it before, but his aura was really strong. As a 13-year-old Alpha with this kind of aura he should have been able to shift long ago. So, they went to the training grounds. Most of the time it had been Xander training him while Luke, Christian and Cammie had taken turns at the hospital watching over Hannah, they had sent him a text every time she had opened her eyes, every time she had closed them ago within minutes.
They had been on the outdoor training grounds for two days now, it had been three days since she first opened up her eyes and Xander and Xavi really missed the sight and scent of their mate.
“Did you see that?” Toby asked, after his third transformation. The first ones have taken a lot of time, but his wolf was strong and so was Toby.
“Yeah, the connection with your wolf is getting stronger, it is going to help you with your aura” Xander said with a wondering expression.
Toby nodded excited
“Toby, do you know anything about your heritage?” Xander asked, he had waited for Toby to gain more control over his aura, before he asked.
Toby looked at the sky, “No, as long as I remember I have lived in the orphanage with Hannah”
Xander didn’t say anything, he had looked into all the missing wolf reports, there was no children of Alphas reported missing.
“Is it important?” Toby asked
“It is not that important, yet, but we might need to get you into the pack soon. Because of your alpha genes, it might be a problem if you aren’t in a pack…” Xander answered. He didn’t really want to explain that alpha rogues, usually got killed. To many was afraid of alphas without a pack. An Alpha needed to have a pack they could take care of or belong to. For which reason they more often than not challenged some alpha of a pack. Xander thought about the solutions. If Toby was important to Hannah, he might need to absorb Toby into the pack and make him a part of her protection. He had seen how protective Toby could be of Hannah, he had scared half of the hospital with his aura already.
Xander frowned.
He went to check on his messages, he saw Cammie had sent one a few hours earlier; She is fully awake now; Isa is checking her.
He closed his eyes and sighed with relief.
“What is it?” Toby asked
“Hannah is awake.”
“Really.”
“Yep, Isa is checking her.”
Toby jumped around like a kid at Christmas, then he began to run towards the house. “Well what are we waiting for?”
Xander smiled, “I think we both need a shower before we go to visit her.” He couldn’t help but giggle by the disappointed smile of the teenage boy.
“Let’s shower then go visit her” Xander said.
After 10 minutes, they both sat in a car, redressed and ready to go visit Hannah at the hospital, and they both were shaking with anticipation.
