The Twin Alphas

Foster’s pov I turn off my alarm like I do every morning. I climb out of bed, it’s the same routine each time. Then I make breakfast for Theo and Miles. Theo likes pancakes in the morning, Miles will only eat bacon and a few slices of toast. He refuses to eat the bacon if it isn’t crunchy enough Then the most dreaded part of my day, I wake them both up to eat. Usually they have some rude comment in the morning about how insufferable I am. If I’m lucky, they’ll just roll their eyes and come downstairs. Today I’m lucky it seems as they both groan then roll their eyes. I go back downstairs and wait to eat with them. After a few moments, they both come downstairs. Theo is dressed in a suit, ready to get to work. Miles is dressed in less formal clothes, likely ready for his morning jog after breakfast. “Thank you for the pancakes, they smell delicious” Theo chuckled as he sat down. Miles scoffed “yeah, thanks” he didn’t sound the most sincere. “Theo, Miles. I know I’m supposed to work without days off but my 18th birthday is arriving soon. I’d like to request a personal day off” I offered a small, hopeful smile. If anything, my best chance at a yes was with Theo “Well” Theo seemed hesitant “you will be shifting that day and we don’t need anything in the house broken” Miles stopped eating, glaring daggers at me “why? Do you want to find your mate?” He sounded genuinely angry at me for wanting to find my mate The question had left me speechless, he saw right through me. Part of me wanted to find my mate in hopes he could sweep me away from here. I had also hoped the twins wouldn’t catch on. “Does that bother you, sir?” I used sir to show respect but there was resentment in my voice. Although Theo didn’t mind the idea at first, he had now changed his mind entirely. As if he wanted to prevent that from ever happening. “No, the answer is no. Don’t ever bother asking again” Miles seethed angrily I pushed my plate away and stood up from the table, not wanting to stay to chat further. “Fine. Have a good day at work, a**hole.” After that, I rushed outside to the woods that surrounded the backyard. There, I kept a small garden that the boys didn’t know of. If they didn’t know, they couldn’t destroy it. My fingers gently touched the petals of a flower, feeling the smooth texture of it. I leaned in and smelled the flowers, they were so fresh. “Even if I don’t find my mate, at least I have my flowers” I sighed to myself. I decided to spend the day outdoors while the twins were busy at work, I’m caught up on housework so there’s really nothing left for me to do inside. Carefully, I sat down next to a nearby tree and titled my head back as I closed my eyes. Breathing in the fresh air, my worries seemed to slip away. In the woods, with my flowers, I didn’t have to worry about the twins or chores. It was so peaceful, listening to birds chirp. Someday, I hope I find a mate that’ll appreciate the little things like I do. Someone to sit with me in the garden I’ve made. I found myself smiling at the thought. Then I heard a branch snap and I knew I was no longer alone. I’ve never came across anyone else in these woods. I prayed the twins had left for work and didn’t follow me into the woods. When I opened my eyes, I saw two wolves instead. Both of them were a bit big. They both had black fur and green eyes. Despite being so large in size, the animals seemed harmless. They just wanted my scent so I held out my wrist for them to smell. They enjoyed it quite a lot by their reactions. “What cute little dogs, I’ve never seen you guys before” I giggled to myself, petting their fur. I locked eyes with one of the wolves and froze. Something seemed familiar about it. Then I got a bad feeling in my stomach, as I looked into its eyes I swear it felt the same as locking eyes with Miles. I brushed it off, thinking it was probably nothing and just my imagination. I sighed “I wish my bosses were as sweet and cute as you two.” A gentle laugh escaped my lips as I vented to two stray dogs “one of them is fairly nice but the other makes up for it with his constant temper” The dogs seemed to tense up at the mention of my bosses. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell him I saw you” I giggled. That only seemed to ease their tension a little. Soon, I realized just how long I had been outside and had to say goodbye. “I’ll come back to see you soon, you two better be here” After saying my goodbyes, I went inside to wash up.
