When the silent ones speak

CHAPTER 4: THREADS OF DECEPTION

Sophia Reyes was really good at making up stories and mixing them with things. She used the school rumors to get what she wanted. Sophia Reyes had told people that Anastasia was not okay in the head saying she saw Anastasia talking to people who were not there. Now Sophia Reyes was, in trouble because Anastasia was going to do to her more than what she has done to anyone else. Anastasia would turn the tables on Sophia Reyes.

In the library Anastasia spent a lot of her time. She was always surrounded by books that were really dusty. Anastasia made something a little bag filled with thyme to help her be brave and valerian root to help her sleep at night. She tied the bag with a hair that came from Sophia's hairbrush. Anastasia had taken the hair when they switched classes. Now Anastasia was putting magic on the bag. She said some words loud: "Words that twist now resist, let your tongue tie in a fist." Elara made the charm to help her with the words that twist, like the charm was going to make it hard for her to say things.

She put the bag in Sophia's locker the next morning. She did a trick to bend the shadows so nobody could see her doing it. She wanted to stay hidden when she placed the sachet, in Sophia's locker.

By the period Sophia's ability to talk smoothly failed her. When she tried to talk about Madison's meltdown her words were all mixed up. She said "Mad... Madis... Cheat... No I mean...". People looked at her. Sophia's face turned red as she stumbled over her words. This was really bad for her because she was in the debate club. In the debate club Sophia's arguments did not make sense anymore. Her sentences were all nonsense. She was talking nonsense. Sophia's problem with talking was very obvious when she was trying to make a point, about Madison.

Anastasia watched from a distance her heart beating fast because she felt happy and bad at the same time. The group of friends was falling apart Madison was all alone Tyler was and Sophia was not talking. People started talking about how the popular kids were having a lot of bad things happen to them. Some people even joked that they were cursed. But only Anastasia knew what had happened to them, and more was coming from where it came from.

At home Anastasia's mother noticed that Anastasia had a lot of energy. She said "You seem different Anastasia. Is everything okay, at school?"

Anastasia smiled a little. "I am just standing up for myself Mom."

Her mother nodded, unsuspecting. But as Anastasia lay in bed that night, staring at the ceiling, she wondered how far she would go. The power was intoxicating, but so was the fear of losing. She wouldn't be doing all this if , Madison, Tyler and Sophia hadn't started it. She wanted to show them mercy, but that had a price to pay for all they have done.
