Kristen didn’t want to tell him what was really going on. When Tim started flirting with her, she thought he was cute, but she wasn’t interested. The more he talked, the more she realized Zane was getting annoyed. So she laughed a little more and flirted right back with him.
Right up until he asked her out. Then she had to shut him down quickly before he took things too far. She figured the promise of free drinks would soften the blow so she invited him to Amavita. It worked.
“I wanted to help you out. Clean up and stuff.”
Zane nodded but wasn’t buying her lines.
She avoided his eyes and tried to keep doing something, but there was nothing left to do.
“You’ve never asked to help before. I’m just wondering why now?”
She huffed. “Do I need a reason to help you?”
