Zane waited with baited breath for her to respond. He was throwing all his cards on the table with his admission. She could easily turn him down and walk away. Or she could say she was just as into whatever was happening as he was. He had no idea which way things would go.
“I’m…I don’t know if I’m ready for someone like you,” she finally said. “I know something inside me is broken. I told you about all the guys I’ve slept with.
