Natalie sat there fidgeting with her new necklace while they were all chatting and finishing up their food. She could hear her wolf in her head bugging her to go for a run. I want to go run whined Hazel. Natalie shook her head at Hazel's tone. Her wolf could be awful dramatic when she wanted to. Natalie nudged Sasha "I'm going to head out to air out my fur." Sasha laughed at the phrase and said "Okay, happy early birthday again. Just a few hours now and you'll be official." Natalie gave her a quick hug before leaving the mess hall. The moon shone brightly tonight and the air was perfectly cool on her face. She ducked behind a tree, stripped her clothes off and shifted. Hazel gave a happy howl at being out and about. The pack had a very large border so there was plenty of room to go roam around. With her tail wagging Hazel set off to go for a good run.
Back at the mess hall Tyler had finally made it inside to eat. He had been stopped a few dozen times on his way by various pack members greeting him. He normally didn't mind talking to everyone but he was starving. He loaded up his plate with macaroni and cheese and pulled pork. He grabbed a few homemade rolls and put that on top and saw Seth and Marcus sitting across the way. Waving at them he weaved his way through the tables towards them. Pulling out a chair he sat down and starting stuffing his face. Marcus starting cracking up at him. "Dude did you not eat the entire time you were gone or something?" Seth was laughing too. "Leave me alone I'm starving." Tyler grumbled with a mouth full of food.
"That's really charming Ty, great table manners for our future alpha" said Sasha teasingly. She pulled out the chair next to her mate Marcus leaning over and kissing his cheek. Tyler swallowed hard because he just caught a whiff of that intoxicating scent he kept dreaming about. Wildflowers and vanilla. He stopped eating sniffing the air. The scent seemed to be lingering around Sasha, he leaned closer to her to smell and Marcus let out a loud warning growl. Future alpha or not it was bad manners to sniff at another's mate. Tyler looked at him. "I'm sorry, I've been dreaming about following this scent for weeks now and right now Sasha seems to have that very scent around her."
Sasha's forehead crinkled in thought. "You mean the scent your dad told you could belong to your mate?" Tyler nodded. "I know we have more than a few she-wolves who recently turned 18 or are close. Dad also mentioned we had a couple of new members he wanted me to meet. Sasha who were you around today?" "Just Natalie, Sarah and Tammy most recently." said Sasha. Tyler knew Tammy was not his mate despite her trying to will it into existence. "Where are Sarah and Natalie? I don't know either of those names."
"Sarah is that short girl in the front of the hall talking to your father and Natalie said that she wanted to go for a quick run outside." replied Sasha. Tyler didn't even bother trying to look at Sarah. In all of his dreams he was always outside chasing that smell. "I'll be back later." He left the rest of his plate on the table and heading outside to shift into Hunter. Was this really happening? Was he really about to finally meet his mate? He practically ripped his shirt off to shift he was so excited to follow this scent and see where it leaded.
He shifted into Hunter, a huge black wolf with piercing blue eyes. Hunter let out a howl and tore into the woods nose down to the ground following the lingering scent.
