Chapter 12 of The Gem

The assassin did not want to leave both of them on the side of the road, so he carried both of them and sent them to different rooms in his house nearby. Immediately after that, he quickly shifted to where Jacey was. She had lost so much blood that her skin had become very pale. When he saw her, he immediately ran to her and gave her a bottled drink, which was used to boost blood production in the human system. He mixed two different versions of those drinks together as they were very powerful when combined together.

She took the bottled drink and started drinking it when all of a sudden, she started smiling because she seemed to be really enjoying the drink. She quickly drank the whole bottle, but it seemed as though there was no change. The guy was scared that the drink had failed to work or function in the girl's body properly. The girl slept like a baby after taking in the bottled drink. A few minutes later, the guy heard someone knocking on the door at the entrance of the building as he had very good hearing. He was not sure who it was, so he shifted to the room on the second floor and saw the guy he was waiting for standing there. He was shocked and worried that he would not be paid for the job. He decided to act calmly and shifted back to the ground floor and opened the door for the guy to enter the building. He pretended as though everything was alright. The guy who had assigned the assassin to that job went straight to the room and saw the girl sound sleep with a normal skin colour.

The assassin had a reputation for not meeting his clients in person as he did not trust anyone and did not know what his clients were capable of. So he hid in the shadows watching what the guy might do. After the guy saw the girl, he said," Assassin, are you here? It seems that you did a pretty good job capturing her. How come she is not even injured just a little bit? It seems that you are a pretty good assassin. I have never seen someone as good as you before." Hearing this, the assassin responded with the voice modulator saying," I have been expecting you all this time. What took you so long? Did you bring the little something that what we agreed on? And the bonus? Where are they? Are they in the suitcase you are holding? I hope they are because it will not be funny if they are not in the suitcase. Anyway, you have seen that the girl is safe and sound so can I have my money now?" Hearing what the assassin had just said, the man responded," Yes, I brought what we agreed on. It is in the suitcase so come and take it. I will drop it on the floor so that you can take it after I leave." The assassin had a feeling that something was wrong with the way the man was behaving.
