My alarm clock blares loudly, signaling the start of another day and the arrival of my 18th birthday. My father Beta Nicolas has been waiting for this day to arrive ever since my mother's murder. I was only twelve. There's pounding on my door followed by my father's voice “wake up sleepy head, time to find your mate”. I love my father, but that the last thing I want to do at the moment. “Go away” I holler, “birthday girl wants to sleep in this morning”. I know he's not having any of it, and he's about two seconds away from beating my door down. “ Come on, sweetheart! I've got work, and you need to get to school, only two weeks left, and you graduate”. I roll out of bed and head for the shower, if I have to get up and go to school a hot shower and my usual cup of coffee are a must to get me to function. Twenty minutes later I'm dressed in my usual jeans, tank top and a zip up hoodie. Today's color is blue, but I have an entire closest full of the same tank, just different colors. Not a single dress in sight. That's what happens when you're raised by a man, it's like instant tomboy, it's in your DNA. I kiss my father as he wishes me a happy birthday, and I'm on my way out the door for my last official week of classes, then it's a week of graduation prep before the big day. But tonight I have to attend a pack party welcoming home Alpha Rico's oldest son Kai, he's been off training some new pack that we've made an alliance with and has been away for the last several months. Pulling up in front of the school I spot my bestie Kristen and her boyfriend Alex, the Alphas the youngest son. He and Kai are incredibly good-looking, and every girl within a hundred miles is hoping to be their mate, except for me. Call me weird, but Kai has a reputation of being all business during the day and a total womanizer after the lights go out. No, thanks, I can do without that! Even if he is 6'4, built like a Greek god,, dark hair, blue eyes, tanned skin and toned muscles for days. He even has that perfect V-cut that makes women and some men lose their minds. Me, I don't really think I have to worry, I'm 5'2 and considered on the curvier side. I have a little waste but then my breasts and my a** flare out, giving me an hourglass shape that gets me attention when I don't try to hide myself. Attention is the last thing I want, hence the reason I avoid most social settings unless I'm forced into them like the party tonight. This should be interesting and considering the whole pack will be there all I can do is pray for a drama free evening…famous last words. I suck it up, step out of my car and head for my friends.
