Chapter 81: Yundeir Harrison

1900 Words
Aila and her fellow kidn*pped team members took a satisfactory stretch before tying themselves again with the ropes. As they planned to uproot these people, they should make a very convincing play to let their guards down. It might be that they are simply angry at being underestimated, but they are now all hungry piranhas waiting for a little blood to start their feeding. Their plan was simple. They will play like a damsel in distress as they wait for their boys. The boys will probably do all the work for them, but they are sure that they will also get their share in the beating. But of course, if something comes up in the middle of their implementation, they will save themselves without the boys. They are more than capable of that. Only that the boys might sulk for the lack of action on their part, overall they thought well of their course of actions. Back in their initial position, Aila and the girls looked at each other and nodded at each other. They pretended that they did not know each other and acted pitifully as if someone opened the doors to see them. Though underneath in their acts, they are simply dissing each other for their acting skills. “Four women this time around.” The one who opened the door said. He is a fat man with a rather pleasing look on his face. “They looked quite healthy too for someone that has lived in this time.” Aila had her eyes on the floor as she heard the man’s words. She was familiar with this routine and how the vilest person of the apocalyptic time acts when they think they have everything in control. This guy, even if he looked easy in the eye, was actually quite vigilant, seeing that he did not get nearer to them. A smart move, which should have been a given for someone who has lived this long. Humans are inherently colder and savage than they let on. It was only morality that was honed by years of superiority over other creatures in the world that has stopped them from being ‘inhumane’. So, without the restrictions of the laws created by the morality of humanity, humans return to a state near to an animal with a rational mind. A combination that made them scarier than any other villain in a story. “They are probably well-kept pets of some man nearby.” A companion of the fat guy said. “With their looks, I will also be tempted to keep them myself. But too bad we are lacking in food to support them.” Aila didn't need to see the reactions of her team to know they were angered. They’ve been together for so long to know each other’s tempers and quirks. The sudden low temperature is a tell-tale sign that one of them was so close to beheading the men in front of them. With how things are going, the plan will really fall short before it is implemented. Their tempers were more short fused than they thought they were. Still, whoever that one that momentarily flared, she has held herself back enough to not let the men know she slipped up. Aila could only briefly gloat that although these men were smart, they were smart enough to live past this night. “Get out of the way.” Another voice grumply said as a small thud was heard at the side. Aila deceitfully looked up at this instance to see what it was. A muscular man was carrying an unconscious teenage boy. The thud she heard was the man unceremoniously placing the teen on the ground. Unintentionally, she admired the teen’s nerves for not waking up in that not-so gentle handling of his body. “That makes five for today’s gain.” The fat man said as he nodded in satisfaction. “We still have some meat from the last s*******r so we should just trade it for something we are lacking. These people will fetch a good price on the market.“ “Well, that made sense. But we can't touch them wantonly as those people are quite picky nowadays. Just because they are bigger and more influential than us does not mean we have to follow them.” The not-so memorable man said. He was complaining from his words, but it was clear that he cannot do anything about their situation. “Who told them to have so many of those with powers.” The fat man was nonchalant as he said this, he was more or less just accepting of their fate. Instructing his companions to secure them, he decided to leave by dawn to sell them. There were some other words exchanged between their captors, but they did not let out any indications of letting them know about them being awake. Though Aila has to commend that they are indeed too careful to have them inhale something to make them lose their consciousness longer, too bad they are ‘somewhat’ immune to them due to the antics of Jerome once in a while. The men left the room once again and they no longer pretended to be dead. Diane had a thoughtful look on her face as she casually tapped the nearest surface to tell her thoughts to the others. She was telling them that things are quite complicated from the look of it. Aila and the others wanted to talk, but they cannot risk the men being alert for now. So they satisfied themselves by communicating using codes. They had a few disagreements about what to do, but they ultimately just let things flow. After all, with how long they were gone, the boys are on their way now. It is a waste of brain power for them to plan more at the moment. Closing the topic with that, they then turn their eyes on the newcomer. He was still knocked out cold, but Aila had a sense of familiarity with him. She does not remember meeting him, but she feels like she knew him all his life. Wrecking her head a little longer, Aila remembered a memorable character in her book. This teen resembled the young genius scientist that has later become twisted due to his experiences. If she remembered it well in her notes, the teen was kidn*pped and later became a slave to a certain supernaturalist who he later murdered in cold blood. He only appeared as a villain who tries to bring down bases in retaliation for his bad experiences. His name was Yundeir Harrison. Currently, he should be around 17 years old. His life before the apocalypse was quite unusual for a normal child as he was only five years old when he was under the state’s protection and monitoring. When he was just so young, he made an outstanding achievement in hacking into the national defense’s database, thus leading him to be discovered and put under subsequent government interference in his life afterwards. Growing in a limited way, he was obsessed with doing pharmacological, biological, and chemical research. At the start of the apocalypse, he was a key person to be protected. In the first two years of his apocalyptic life, he was fine, but the green-eyed peers of his in his field did not like him very much. Thus, leading him to be separated and be captured by people who later take him to his future tormentor. His bad experience should have just started as the blackening of his character should be in the sixth year of the apocalypse. It was after he could no longer tolerate the favors his ‘owner’ bestows on him that he decided to bring the rest of humanity to extinction. Because what is the use of his research to people when these very same people bring him to the brink of madness? It was still the third year as of now. So he is not yet that villainous person. He is supposed to be making some achievements in medicine at this point in the base he was protected to. Sheltered and cared for like a gold laying hen. Aila’s eyes glowed as she looked at the teen and her mother did not miss it. “Aila?” Judith voiced out in a barely audible whisper. Aila directed her eyes at her mother before she quickly tapped on the nearest surface her hands could reach. She explained to them who the boy was in a short and concise manner. Telling them that he would be a good addition to the labs wherein Travis might just give them an extra of the supply of enhancers out of joy. “How did you know him?” Gretchen asked in her tapping. “He was one of the people found by Alexa when she hacked into the database.” Aila explained. “Child genius, that was said to be the hope of humanity.” “If he was, why was he here?” Diane was curious, as she knew if the guy was highly acclaimed he should be under some protection. “....who knows? But we should use this chance to please those in the labs. Maybe this time they will not keep on borrowing Jerome from us.” Aila wants them to see the guy’s value so that their lives will improve more than they already were. “Then we’ll take him with us.” Judith decided for them all. “If he is that capable, then our base will be a better place with him with us. But how do we deal with the trouble he might bring us? Wasn’t he supposed to be some sort of a big shot or something?” Aila did not have any worry about Yundeir not coming with us, given that he was already this harmed by the people he had trusted enough in his life. Logically, strangers are harder to trust, but compared to those that have wished to kill you, a stranger is a better option despite the chances of them being another bad guy being 50-50. Besides, the guy was a rational person. As long as they could talk peacefully, she was sure that he would come with them. Time then passed quietly as they did their best to be as calm as possible while waiting for the right time to act. The night was already deep and they could sense Brian’s ability to touch them, as if confirming their safety. It was then it was already time for them to leave this place. Moments later, there was a commotion outside the wall they were in. The teen was roused awake by the noise and panicked upon seeing himself tied along with four other women that were in the same room he was. He was about to make some noise when one of the women easily untied himself and gestured to him to be quiet. “Don’t make a noise.” Aila said to the teen as she untied him. “You don’t want to alert them and make our rescue hard.” Yundeir followed her words and behaved himself as much as he could. It was then he noticed that the people he is with are not to be trifled with. kidn*pped people will not be as calm as they were.
