Chapter 11: Getting along 2

1313 Words
Liza had always been obsessed with the idea of love. From Aila's knowledge, she had been to many relationships just to find her "One True Love". But who actually finds love in that way? Maybe someone did find their life partners this way, but Liza is just blind at times. In the apocalyptic world that Aila lived in her second life, Albert has been open to Liza about his long unrequited feelings. Liza had been in a dilemma with the knowledge for a when the other has exposed his interest to her, Albert respected Liza's space and never forced her for an answer of his feelings. It took a long time before the two worked out their relationship, but they had been a very harmonious couple when they did become one. Albert understood her enough to let her run wild as she liked and persuasive enough to reign her in in times of her going too much. Liza wore Albert enough to smother her man's sharp tongue and bad temper, and supportive enough to give assistance with tormenting others. Aila had a hard time during those times of her life. It's bad enough to eat PDA once in a while, but her being a target of their antics? It's just plain abuse. Aila had enough of that. At the moment, the two were not yet a couple, but they had been great partners in tormenting Aila. She fears when the time will come again for these two to be a team. And as the apocalypse comes nearer, the time of it is fast approaching. Despite all the irrational fears Aila had, she had no plans to stop the inevitable. If the need arrives, she vows to help them together to save the drama in the future. Besides, it will also stop the unnecessary conflicts that come with Liza's current boyfriend at the moment. "It's not that we are afraid of you biting us," Albert said, and Aila thought to herself that the guy might even relish being bitten by Liza. "The thing is that your choices of topics are, you know....awkward and not for the faint hearted." "My subjects are not as you describe them to be. I just want to chat with you guys," Liza retorted. "But it damages people's esteem and confidence in just one session." Felix murmured, only those near his seat had heard it. Aila was beside him so she heard it well enough that she inwardly nodded in agreement. "It's not that bad," Liza said. "I'm not even torturing you guys to answer my inquiries nor do I force any of you to talk." "But you made us listen with your tales of romance," Harry said dryly. "I'm going to be a lawyer, but your ability to turn white to black is admirable. I really have the mind to pull you to my department, but you are resolute in your decision to be a teacher. I can only imagine the fear of your future students' futures with you as their teacher if you get your license in the future." Jerome nodded hard at Harry's words. And, with his usual self, he said words that are better not said out loud. "I fear your students will be thoroughly brainwashed into something they don't really want. If you manage to be disillusioned with matters about romance, your students are bound to have their dreams destroyed by a single lecture session." Jerome said, with an all-knowing manner. The whole room was plunged into an eerie coldness. The chills originated with Liza and the said girl had this almost unnatural smile on her face. "I think I heard a very absurd thing a moment ago. Can you repeat that?" Liza said smilingly. "You destroy people's ideals and dreams." Jerome summarized his earlier words. Liza laughed in a very lady-like manner. She is currently refined and graceful, but what happened next was as she was outwardly showing herself. Let's give a moment of silence for a brave(foolish) warrior. "Why am I hit again?" After a period of skipped over violence, Jerome emerged with an aching stomach. Liza knew not to leave obvious evidence of her rampage and chose to hit him in the not-easily-seen parts of the body. " Does your boyfriend know of your violent side?" "Want another round?" Liza said with a smile that could be described as timid. Her choices of words and expressions are ambiguous at best. Anyone who heard it might have wrong ideas. But those who knew would only drop some cold sweat and do their best to keep their presence as little as possible. The rest of the hyenas refuse to help out with the i***t's predicament. It's useless to remind him of his idiotic actions, he still won't even remember or learn his lessons . Most of them have grown quite used to letting things be after making a useless intervention a few times in the past and this is way past their regulated patience. Besides, nothing really bad will happen to the guy in the end. They care for one of theirs. All the suffering Jerome is experiencing is just icing on the cake in the end. So at times like this, I don't want to be dragged into these kinds of one-sided fights. "Now shall we go back to the topic at hand?" Liza said, fixing her clothes like the demon of the moment before was not hers. "That reminds me." Alexa interrupted Liza, stirring the topic back to that. Any topic will just not talk about their still non-existent love life. "Two months from now there was the annual bloodletting in the city Hall. Are we going to be part of it this year?" Speaking of bloodletting, a few times a year their group are regulars in this type of activity. Ever since they were seventeen, they had first participated in one and they continued to donate as long as they could. The idea came from one incident when they were sixteen. Harry's little brother has an accident that requires blood fusion. His blood is a rare type that is often not available in the blood banks, so they knew first hand how hard it was to look for blood bags that are compatible with them if ever they need one. Thankfully, Aila turned out to have the same rarity, so the treatment was done in time. Upon realizing the direness of being without suitable blood to aid them in time of need, at seventeen, they made it a habit to store blood for their own use and donate some to the blood bank for those who need it. Especially those with hard to find blood types. They haven't had any participation this year. Everyone had been busy with their lives ever since things started pouring over their heads. So Alexa bringing it up had grabbed their attention well enough that Liza momentarily dismissed her desire to talk about romance. "We haven't been in once since last year," Bella said as she took out her planner. "What is the date of the bloodletting, Alexa? I'll see if I have anything on that date." "It was twenty-eight, a Sunday. I think you don't have anything by then." Alexa answered as she looked at the others. "I had nothing arranged on that day," Felix said, giving his willingness to join. "I had no problems on that day too," Albert said nonchalantly. "Even if something did come up, I'll go there first before the other is dealt with." The rest also expressed that they will go and Alexa proposes that they go together and sign up after they finish their orders. Finally, peace and harmony finally settled in their midst and they actually talked about leisure things that didn't involve romance and love in general. Thus making the whole meeting conclude in a productive way.
