Chapter 26Monday morning, I was not prepared for the news waiting for me in the halls of Milton High. I skipped my mother’s cinnamon French toast and Eggs Benedict and got a ride to school from Dad. Half an hour before eight o’clock, I swung the front doors wide open and raced down the main hall, my heart pounding, feeling lightheaded, thinking about all the studying and preparation I accomplished this past weekend, leading up to my final exams. The incident with my family this weekend was not the worst of my problems. I had bigger issues when I stepped into the crowded cafeteria for my Trigonometry exam. The room was full.
