Chapter 20
Emma walked through the living area and into the bedroom. It had a light, airy, almost exotic look, vastly different from how it had been those first months. Scattered around were chests and low seats made of alien wood, which hadn’t been here before she’d left for Terra.
Vases of fresh flowers, some of them native to Nibiru, but some of them not, scented the air with their fragrance, mingling with the faint scent of lily of the valley, and she smiled. She knew who’d placed them there, who’d done all this while she was away.
Emma crossed to the bed. No longer the chaste, narrow couch she’d found here, it was huge, taking up a good deal of the room. A thick mattress that would do credit to The Princess and the Pea was piled high with soft pillows. Curtains of a sheer material
