My mind was a storm, churning with thoughts I couldn’t push aside. The incident in my office with Cassie kept replaying to the moment my wolf almost clawed its way to the surface, unexpected, surprising, yet thrilling.
For a fleeting second, silver fur had sprouted on my hands and I felt alive, like the beast I used to be. Then it vanished as quickly as it had, swallowed by my human skin, leaving me heartbroken, reminded of my curse and the fact that I was now a shadow of the wolf I was born as.
