Chapter 04

MAKING EFFORTS

The sun was setting, the color orange, pink, purple and grey made the whole beach magical and beautiful. The Horizon was slowly embracing the Setting sun, the bidding farewell of today made me happy, it was so good to be away from the city and witness the art of nature. The sound of waves and the chirping of birds was comforting, as the yacht dance with the waves, I was tempted to have a dip.

Ezekiah said that we will have dinner in this yacht, He was now in the kitchen of the yacht for he volunteered to cook, I wanted to stay and watch him but he insist that i should enjoy the scenery of the setting sun, and here i am appreciating it. I sat in the rear sunbeds, closing my eyes.

I felt the side dipped, and it was Ezekiah, I turned to look at him he was looking at me. “Tapos kana?” tanong ko, he didn’t answer and just smile at me.

“Do you find this place good?” tanong niya, tumango ako at ngumiti “It’s not just good, it’s breathtaking, This place felt an escape from reality” ani ko at pinalibot ang tingin sa kabuoan ng tanawin na maabot ng mata ko.

“The sun is setting but i believe the water’s warm, I’ll take a dip, wanna come?” he asked as he offered his hand, i nodded and accepted it. Kanina pa ay natutukso na akong maligo.

Tumungo kami sa bathing platform ng yacht, nang makarating ay hinubad ni Ezekiah ang kaniyang white polo, the three buttons was unbuttoned so he was quick to get topless, tinupi niya ito at nilagay sa gilid. I didn’t move a bit i was appreciating his body… err, i mean the view.

He dived in the water and let his body submerged. I went in the rear to check him, nang bigla siyang umahon mula sa dagat, he messed his hair and fixed it through running his fingers through it and then looked up to me, ngumiti siya “Come on, the water feels warm and refreshing”

I sighed and nodded, I slowly took off my white beach dress, I have a black bikini underneath. I’m used wearing bikinis, when we have family vacation or having a pool party with my cousins i would always wear one, but right now i felt a bit hesitant and shy, I maybe used to this but with the thought that he would be seeing me in this skimpy clothing, with his brooding and ruthless eyes watching me, i know him surrounded with different girls and surely my body is nothing compared to them.

Even a bit hesitant, i bravely meet his eyes, I thought first that he would have a fair reaction but i was a bit taken back to see his eyes held admiration and, possessiveness?, i’m not really sure for it passed his eyes seconds after my confusion. Still because of his reaction, my confidence grew a bit.

Umupo ako sa pinakadulo ng platform at maingat na inilubog ang sarili sa tubig, He hurriedly swim a bit to assist me, i got the shivers when i felt his hot fingers holding my waist after submerging to the a bit warm sea.

He smiled happily at me “See? it’s refreshing”

Napangiti rin ako. We swim around the yacht, He was really good, we even had a contest, whoever gets to stay submerged in the ocean the longest will get a prize from the loser.

And of course i losed. “So what do i owe you?” I asked laughingly, it was round three of our contest, and i lose three consecutive times! but still having fun.

“Secret! I’ll tell you and ask you for it soon” He smirked and then laughed again, i pouted with his answer

i startled whe he suddenly closed our gap, he was so near me, i felt his hot minty breath and warmth. he fixed the wet hair on my face, he was smilingly doing it, his eyes held amusement and glee, “Your hair a bit mess” he said as he fix it, he then held my chin and chuckled “And your eyes looked a bit red, were you opening your eyes under the salty water?” he asked

I pout, “I was guarding you, if you try to cheat on me on our contest! palagi ka kasing nanalo!” reklamo ko, mas lalo siyang natawa at pinisil pisil pa ang mukha ko.

“Then let’s think about another match that would surely make you win” ani niya, napaisip naman ako and i pouted “I’m surely a loser for any water activities”

“You wouldn’t know if you won’t try” ani niya, i looked directly in he’s eyes, we were inches apart, he was now holding my waist, i was depending on him actually. He was the one keeping us floating. “Race to the yacht” ani niya bigla, napakunot naman ang noo ko.

“I suck on this, surely ikaw parin ang mananalo, i’m not athletic remember?” i was bewildered with his idea.

“Still, you should try. If you win..” he suspense his sentence, and gived a sly smile

“If I win?” tanong ko

“You’ll get three wishes granted by yours truly, Ezekiah Carson, your husband” he even wink with that.

i raised my left eyebrow, “And if I lose?”

“Then you owe me four prizes”

I gived a loud, brave sigh. Well that’s seems fair enough, “Okay, first one get to the yacht wins” i said with full determination, we are a bit away from the yacht, the scenery was so fascinating that we were indulge to roam further from the yacht, if i’m alone i would surely not risk it but because i’m with him and i fully trust him that he won’t let anything bad happen to me, i really had the guts to.

“I’ll let you have a start first, then if you’re in the middle of reaching the yacht, i would start too, is that fair for you wife?” he said nonchalantly

I wanted to say that’s a bit unfair on his part but remembering how good he was on every sport he does, i just nodded at his suggestion, for a person who sucks at being so physically active, It would be a fair fight… for me

He smiled at my answer, “Okay wife” he smiled sweetly “Ready set and…. go!”

I swim, i paddle my feet as i did with my arms, i graced through the waters as i set my goal, reach the bathing platform. I’m getting near at the platform when i surfaced to get some air when i saw how swiftly he swims, his moves were agile and fast, i smiled with that and swim again, i felt him so near me, i thought he would just get passed through me but when i reached the platform, still he was just behind me, He let me win this match!

“Wow!” i exclaimed when i saw how the the Cockpit area for outside dining of the Yacht was suddenly made elegantly simple and romantic, the large convertible sunbeds that was around here was made with white pillows, at the center had a dinner table for two, there are fairy lights around, making it so aesthetic, flowers and a mellow music was heard.

It was nearing dark when we got tired of swimming around, our clothes was surprisingly ready near the bathing platform, i cleaned my self at the external shower and change my clothes at the spare room that is adjacent to the shower.

I’m wearing a retro sweet off shoulder, square neck, bubble sleeve white fishtail dress, I had my hair loose, i had a long curly hair that compliments the fairytale vibe of what i am wearing. I arrived witnessing the romantic ambiance and the elegant made place for a romantic dinner, I never thought this place can be turned like this, who did this anyway?

“Wife” Napalingon ako nang marinig ko ang baratinong boses ni Ezekiah, he was wearing a white long sleeve at black beach shorts,naka unbuttoned ang tatlong buttons niya, ang buhok ay hinahangin pero hindi parin na nakakabawas sa kakisigan nito. It made him more attractive even.

“Do you like it?” tanong niya napatigil saakin

“You did this?” nagtatakang tanong ko, how did he made this possible?, magkasama kami maghapon.

He chuckled with my questions “Well i did the planning, but i had some people to arrange this”

Napatango ako, He went near me and hold my waist, I wasn’t that shy for i am used to it now, He guided me toward the table for two.

The table was set with white roses, a lantern filled with dainty lights as it’s centerpieces, white tablewares with the touch of gold, everything was well prepared.

I looked around, thinking about how can someone do all of these when it’s only the two of us around here, i didn’t see anyone nor knew some helpers present in the yacht.

“When we were having our time swimming around, The crews from the lower cabin did all of this, remember why i insisted to cook?” he asked, i nodded for response

“I talked to them, instructed them what to do and readied the menu for our dinner”

“But i didn’t see anyone around here when we boarded the yacht” I said

He chuckled and massage his nape, “I told them to hide, because i don’t want to spoil the surprise, they moved and readied all of this after we went to swim”

I suppressed a smile, He’s making efforts like he always do, I remember how he made me feel at ease and comfortable around him, Giving his time even the little of his busy schedule to be with me in the two years of being engaged.

He raised his hand and gived a hand sign to someone, i look at where he was giving that to and i saw a waiter waiting for any instructions.

Corn and fish Chowder, Sautéed Wild Jumbo Scallops, Seafood Ceviche, Ultimate Salmon burger and King Crab, The waiter introduced everything as he served every dish.

The mellow music was really soothing and it added to the romantic vibe of the place. I scan the whole place, i didn’t know he can be this… romantic

“I hope you like my surprise”

I smiled, Parang nahihiya pa siya, He was making efforts and i really appreciate it.

“I love the place, when did you plan this?”

“It has always been my plan to surprise you this, You love the stars, you like mellow music and you always want to experience a romantic dinner” He’s blushing as he explain.

Hindi ko alam na naaalala niya ang maliliit na detalye tungkol saakin, He was always been observing, and i didn’t know he was looking at the little details about me

I felt so happy “Thank you Ezekiah”

We started eating, I never felt like a princess, Siya ang naglagay ng tubig sa baso ko, he even help me with the King crab, nahirapan kasi ako sa shell nito.

It was a scrumptious meal, the conversation is light and the whole mood is nice, it was perfect for me.

“So you never had a boyfriend?” he asked, napatango ako

“Mom always says that i will be marrying someone they choosed for me, that’s why i didn’t try to fall inlove, i didn’t want to hurt someone for i can’t be with him because in the end of the day i’ll be married off someone” i smiled thinking about that, I didn’t regret it though, I can see Ezekiah as a good partner.

He seems into deep thoughts. “You?” i asked him

He seemed hesitant “ahm, i didn’t had any serious relationship”

“Flings?” I added

Nag iwas siya ng tingin, “I was a jerk, all i did was play around and goof, i made sure that the girl i’ll get out with has the same thoughts about it”

Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay “Was?”

He gived me a serious look, he looked directly in my eyes “I was, because after i met you and the engagement was announced, i oath to myself that i would stay loyal to you even if it’s just a arrangement for the betterment of business, and also i didn’t want to tarnish our engagement”

I got taken back, He was loyal to me even before the marriage? I didn’t really expect that before, he has this reputation where he never get serious with girls, but after hearing and seeing his actions, It was an evidence that he wanted to make this marriage work.

He held my hands that is above the table, “I hope my past wouldn’t make you have second thoughts about marrying me, i want this marriage to work Abitha, i promise to be forever loyal to you.

I shook my head, “I don’t care about your past Ezekiah, i can see your sincerity through your actions”
