Chapter 4Ama moved among “her” humans that evening. She wasn’t alpha of either of the local Washington, DC, werewolf packs, but she still felt protective of the humans she saw each week, both servers and those who ate the food. She was one of a number of gammas. Werewolf packs were organized this way: alpha, beta, and then gammas, of which there could be as many as ten. Jerome, the gamma just under her, hadn’t fought for dominance in over two years. He seemed to have learned that his place was just under her in the pack hierarchy.
