Chapter 14: Shadows Over the Supernatural Realm The vampire kingdom was unraveling. Two months had passed since Eve Corvin vanished, and in those two months, chaos had begun to consume the supernatural world. Without its queen, the once-powerful vampire race stood on the brink of collapse. --- Elsa’s Hollow Throne Elsa King sat upon the Blackstone Throne, the ancient seat of vampire rulers. The heavy crown upon her head did not feel like a mark of triumph—it felt like a noose tightening around her throat. The nobles, the same ones who had stood beside her when she betrayed Eve, now looked at her with thinly veiled contempt. At first, they had rejoiced at Eve’s downfall. They had believed that with her gone, they could seize power. Instead, they had gotten Elsa. And Elsa, despite all her cunning, was not Eve. She could see it in their eyes during court meetings—the doubt, the suspicion. She could hear their whispers, their mocking words spoken just loud enough for her to catch. "The usurper queen." "A crown does not make a ruler." "A temporary replacement, at best." The worst of them was Lord Darius Valtor, the head of the most influential noble house. At their last meeting, he had looked her in the eyes and said, "You may wear the crown, Lady King, but you have yet to prove yourself worthy of it." The insult had seared into her mind. As if she needed to prove anything. But she couldn’t deny the truth. Eve had ruled for 150 years through absolute dominance. She had been feared, respected, and followed without question. Elsa, on the other hand, had been queen for two months—and already, her rule was being challenged. She clenched her fists. She would not let them take this from her. --- The Kingdom in Ruins News of Eve’s disappearance had spread like wildfire. Some believed she was dead. Others whispered that she had escaped and would one day return for vengeance. The lower clans—vampires who had lived under Eve’s protection—were refusing to obey Elsa’s commands. Some had even declared independence, forming rogue factions that ignored the queen’s rule. Then there were the other supernatural races. The werewolves, once kept in check by Eve’s presence, had begun to expand their territory. The witches, who had respected Eve’s rule out of fear, now saw an opportunity to strike back. Even the demons, who rarely interfered in vampire affairs, were watching from the shadows. And at the center of it all, the vampire nobles bickered and schemed. --- The Rise of the Feral Ones But those were not Elsa’s greatest concern. Her greatest fear lay in the feral vampires. At first, the disappearances had been scattered and unnoticed. A few rogue hunters vanishing in the night. A noble lord found dead in his estate. Then entire villages began to disappear. Elsa had sent scouts, only for them to return with horrific reports. Mindless, rabid vampires were attacking everything in sight—not driven by hunger, but by something worse. Madness. Vampires didn’t turn feral without reason. It was happening too quickly, too suddenly. Something was wrong. And Elsa had a sinking feeling that it all traced back to Eve’s disappearance. For 150 years, Eve had kept the supernatural world in check. Now, without her… the monsters were awakening. --- A Figure in the Darkness Elsa stood in the war chamber, staring at the holographic map of the kingdom. Red markers blinked across the screen, each one representing an outbreak of violence. Feral vampire attacks. Werewolf uprisings. Rebellions in the outer regions. It was a disaster. She had fought so hard for the throne, but now, she was beginning to wonder… had she made a mistake? Then, a whisper echoed through the chamber. "Having trouble, my queen?" Elsa spun around, her fangs bared. A tall figure stood in the shadows, his face obscured. But something about him made the air grow cold. "Who are you?" she demanded. The figure stepped forward, allowing the dim candlelight to reveal a pair of glowing crimson eyes. A vampire. But not one of hers. Elsa’s grip on the table tightened. "How did you get in here?" she asked. The man tilted his head, as if amused. "You are in a time of crisis, Queen Elsa," he said smoothly. "Surely, you should be more concerned with your kingdom than with how I move through the shadows." Elsa’s eyes narrowed. She didn’t trust him. But she was also running out of options. "What do you want?" she asked. The stranger smiled, revealing fangs longer than any noble’s. "To help you, of course," he murmured. "After all, it would be a shame if the wrong queen sat on that throne." --- Back on Earth—A Silent Warning At that exact moment, on Earth, Eve awoke with a start. Her instincts screamed in alarm. The night was silent. Too silent. She could feel it—a disturbance. Something was shifting in the supernatural world. She sat up, her silver hair falling over her shoulders, her breath uneven. A sense of unease wrapped around her like a suffocating fog. She turned toward the window. And for a brief moment—just a flicker of a second—she thought she saw a pair of glowing red eyes staring at her from the trees. Then—nothing. But Eve knew better. Something was coming. The supernatural world had not forgotten her. And soon, it would come looking. --- End of Chapter 14
