A run in with a monster

295 Words
I have to keep running if that thing manages to get me well, I can't think about that right now. This place seems so familiar, yet I fon't think I have ever been here before. Ash from the burning trees scalds my scalp as it gets tangled in my long brown locks. Flying debris welts my face forcing it to well up with tears as burning embers crash beside me. Through my stinging eyes I manage to make out a short set of stairs, followed by a big golden door. I bolt up the stairs and try to budge the unmoving door. It manages to let out a creak and begin to slide along the concrete floor just as it reaches the bottom of the stairs. This is when I get a first real glimpse of the creature chasing me. It is skinny but it has it has an undeniably strong arm that could break through almost anything. The monster itself is just pure bone covered with the blood of the innocent people it has murdered with knife like nails. It has a bomb inside it that can be clearly seen through its cage like body. I suppose this is a last resort if it is unable to kill its victims with its strength it can ultimately selfdestruct causing everything around it to be abliviated in the process. As the monster begins to sprint up the stairs I manage to open and jam the door in one swift movement. Once inside I take out a padlock and after the lock gives a satisfactory click in place. Sure that I am safe for now, I let out a breath and collapse against the cold door. And drift off into a deep sleep ignoring the danger outside.
