The castle is silent. Only the gushing wind outside the window can be heard. The rain started pouring hard when the banquet was over. I am lying in my bed waiting for the guard outside my room to fell asleep after I made them smell a sleeping potion given to me by Elena when I told her my plan to escape.
I used my sharpened senses and felt that they finally fell asleep. The door suddenly opens and Elena went inside.
“Your highness,” She whispered. I leave my bed and stand on the floor. I am still wearing the gown I wore at the banquet as we have no time to change it. Elena handed a cloak to me. She also handed a pouch.
“Use this, your highness. It’s a magical staff a bought in the mid-yard. You can place anything inside. It has no limit. I have already placed your clothes a food supply for a year and your money. You don’t have to worry about losing it. Once you drop your blood it will take you as its owner and you’re the only one who can use and open it unless you permitted others.” Elena suddenly gave me a necklace.
“It’s a weapon your highness, just think of any weapon you like and it will change into it.” I was touched by her concern for me.
“I’m sorry that I have to leave this place, Elena. It’s just that … I don’t want to marry someone I don’t love.” I whispered the last words of my sentence. I felt Elena held my hand and squeeze it tightly.
“I understand your Highness.” She smiled at me. I hugged her tightly. She was like a sister to me. She always comforts me when I feel down, she lies for my sake, she understands me. She has always been there for me since I was young, whenever I was hurt I tried my best to hide it and yet she’s the only person that can see through me.
I remember her saying every time I suppress my tears. “It’s okay to cry, your highness. Crying doesn’t mean that you are weak. It means that you are letting your problems out and you are willing to move on and start over. Sometimes tears can make you stronger.”
“Thank you, Elena.” I cried silently on her shoulder. I felt Elena patting my back lightly.
“It’s the time your highness.” I let her go. I wiped my tears in the face using my hand when she wipes lift her hands and wiped it herself.
It was exactly 12 at the midnight. I climb over my window and jump to the ground. I carefully run towards the forest. I run and run without looking back. Elena told me not to worry about her because she has a plan for herself, and I trust her. If she said so then she really means it.
The moonlight serves as my light in the darkness within the forest. I stopped on my track when I heard a noise. I immediately jump over the tree and hid there. Thankfully, I changed into the suit placed within the pouch Elena gave to me before I left.
I heard growling sounds and a raspy voice below the tree I was hiding at. I glanced below me and saw a wolf surrounded by rogue vampires. There were about 5 vampires below. I noticed that the wolf was whimpering slightly despite her growling. I sniff and smell a blood scent.
‘Oh no, she’s hurt.’ I waited for the right time to show up myself. When I noticed one of the vampires was about to attack her, I made the vines in the tree move. I raised my hand and motion it t the way I want. I grasp the vampire using the vines making him halt. He turned around to find me but he can’t.
I saw him used his strength to break free, unfortunately, he won’t be able to do that. I motioned the vines to throw him in the other tree. His crashing makes a loud thud making the other rogues to be distracted and turn in his direction.
I used that as the opportunity to tie them all at once. I caught another one and tie him in the other tree like the first one. The remaining three vampires become more alert. They started to slowly retreat as they cannot see who’s attacking them.
One vampire runs away but who said that I will let him go that easy. I connect myself to the forest spirit and plead to help me. The trees suddenly bend and blocked the vampire pathway. I jumped from the tree where I was hiding. They suddenly turned their heads towards me.
I touched the necklace Elena gave me and imagine a sword. The three vampires started to approach me at their full speed. Their eyes show blood lust. I forced my ability into the sword I was holding.
An aura suddenly emerged from it. I saw how the vampires halted and tremble in fear. Well, who wouldn't be? It is a holy aura. The best weapon against someone like them. I look straight at them and noticed that they trembled more.
“Scared? Come on don’t you want to play with me?” I said, sighing. I made sure that they saw a glimpse of my golden eyes. They started to fall to their knees one by one. I slowly stepped towards them. I saw one of them fighting against the nightmare I gave to them but before he could even stand I stabbed his chest where his heart lies.
I also stabbed the other two vampires' hearts. Blood splattered everywhere and some even reached my face. I wiped the blood off and glance at the other two who’s tied in the tree. They’re trembling in pain. Well, the vines I used to tie them have thorns and they won’t be able to regenerate that fast because I placed some poison in the vines.
It was one of my many abilities just like the holy aura that can dispel any evil, Nature’s touch which is I can control any part o the nature, Poisonous Death in where I can place it wherever I wish to.
I heard a whimpering sound. I turned my gaze towards the wold and saw that she’s lying down. I immediately run to her and kneel beside her. I place my palm in her wounds which happened to be in her belly. When I placed it I felt another life inside her.
‘She’s pregnant!’ I immediately healed her and gave her some strength. Her breathing and whimpering seem to calm down. I was surprised when I heard a thud outside the barrier tree we are.
When I turned to the wolf she was back in her human form, naked. I immediately take out a blanket from my pouch and wrap her with it. Slowly she’s opening her eyes and mumbling a word.
“Dalton…” A name? perhaps, “Is it your mate?” I ask. I saw her nodded weakly. I grew some grass under her so she won’t be too uncomfortable in the ground.
I splash warm water on us and use some heat to dry it. When I saw that she’s clean as I am, I immediately stand up. I was surprised when she tugged my hand.
“Where…are y-you g-going?” I smiled at her and placed my hand in her hands then let it go. I command the spirits to take the trees back to their natural appearance. Just right after I did it a guy came rushing into the girl.
I can feel the danger around him so I decided to leave since she was her mate, he won’t probably hurt her. I was about to jump into the tree again when the girl spoke
“W-what’s your n-name?” I halted and turned my hair a little. The hood of my cloak fell off my head because of the strong wind revealing my face, silver hair, and golden eyes.
“Elbereth,” I said with a little smile plastered on my face. I jumped into the tree but before I left I heard her spoke again.
“T-thank y-you. I w-won’t forget t-this Elbereth,” A satisfied and genuinely smile formed on my face.
‘No thank you for surviving with your little pup inside you.’
