JACYE P.O.V
"Damn it. Who was that?" I asked, shoving Janet away from me as I got out of bed, naked, and rushed out of the room to find who had entered my house.
*Was it a thief? How did I not hear the sound of the person? Had the person recorded me? Who could have seen Janet and me having s*x?*
I did not know, and I felt restless about who had entered my house.
"Babe? Who was that?" Janet asked, quickly taking the bed sheet to wrap around her body, before she joined me in stepping out of the room.
When we stepped out of my bedroom and into my living room, there was no one, and I looked over at the flower vase that had fallen.
*Did I hear wrongly?* I had heard the sound of the door shutting.
There was only one way to find out. So I went back into the room, picked up my boxers and trousers, and put them on. Then I picked up my phone and saw several missed calls from Ella.
My heart twisted when I saw the missed calls. I stepped out of the room with Janet standing worriedly.
"Babe, do you think someone entered your house and recorded us? Who could have seen us?" Janet asked, standing in front of me. Her gaze fixed on my face.
"I don't know. Let me ask the security guard who came in to find me. That's the only way," I assured her as she stood in front of me, wrapped in a white bedding, completely naked underneath.
"Alright. Or do you think Ella arrived here? Besides, today is Friday, and she could have come to see you and heard everything," Janet suggested, her lips curled up in a smirk, and my gaze darkened.
As much as I enjoyed cheating on Ella with Janet, I didn't have it in mind to stick with Janet. Ella was mine and mine alone.
"What's wrong, babe?" Janet asked, standing in front of me as she noticed my darkened expression. Her hand clutched my shirt. Her gaze fixed on my face.
"Let that not be the case. I hope Ella hasn't overheard anything," I replied and shoved Janet's hand away from clutching my shirt as she stopped me from rushing out of the house to find Ella.
Janet was nothing compared to Ella. Ella was a decent girl, and I was only using Janet to pass time since she had offered herself to me. She was a good fụck and nothing more.
When I stepped out of the house, I spotted the security man, Ruben, and I asked him, "Excuse me, Ruben. Did anyone come to look for me? Or did you see anyone running out?"
"Oh, yes. Your girlfriend, Ella, arrived earlier, and just now, she ran out."
"What?" I gasped. My fist clenched by my sides, and I could not believe that I had messed up.
"What's wrong? What did you do to offend Ella? She was in tears," Ruben said, and I couldn't explain to him what the problem was.
Ruben was a young man wearing a black security uniform. He was tall, light-skinned, and didn't fit the job he was doing. But he said he couldn't find another job other than it.
Before I turned and went back into the house, Janet stepped outside and asked, "Babe, what did the security guard say?"
I wasn't the only one living in this building. Several other tenants lived there too. Some of them peeked at me from their opened windows, and a wave of embarrassment crashed down on me.
Clearing my throat, I fixated my gaze on Janet, avoiding the gossiping eyes as I replied, "Ella was here. She caught us."
"So what if she caught us? You are breaking up with her anyway."
"I am not breaking up with your sister. In short, our relationship ends here. I don't want to see you in my life anymore," I stated to Janet, glaring at her.
"What? What nonsense are you talking about, Jayce? You said you love me. Are you this cruel that you will break up with me after all the s*x we had?" Janet asked, looking disappointed as she raised her voice at me.
Janet had worn her red dress. And I could not believe that she had manipulated me into breaking up with Ella. The fact that Janet said her father planned to sell Ella off to the Collins Group Patriarch still made me furious, and I cautioned her. "Stay away from me."
How could they trade Ella off to an old man for money?
I walked up to my apartment, shut the door, and locked it as I turned to face Janet.
"Look, Janet, I never loved you to begin with. I was only using you to pass time and to wait for your sister to graduate. Ella will be my wife. So get the fụck out of my life."
"What?" Janet gasped. She stood stunned as I marched away from her and moved over to my car to get in and search for Ella.
"Jayce! You cannot break up with me like that. You cannot dump me for Ella! Jayce!" Janet rushed over to my car to stop me from getting in. But I turned around and slapped her hard enough to make my point clear, and I yelled at her, "Get out! Don't mention your sister's name to me again. Hearing you say her name makes me sick. And I never want to see you again."
I hopped into my black car, shut the door, and drove off. Janet stood transfixed, watching me as I drove out of the residence and went in search of Ella.
I tried calling Ella with my phone, but she wasn't answering.
Damn it.
I messed up, and I knew that I didn't deserve her forgiveness.
I thought of one person who I knew was Ella's best friend: Lora Abram. And I drove off to Lora's house, knowing that Ella could be there.
The night fell rapidly as my car moved swiftly until I arrived at the campus hostel where Lora lived.
I got out of my car and ran in search of Ella.
Ella might not forgive me. But I planned to explain to her that it was all a setup. There was no way she would break up with me after four years of our relationship. How could she do that?
