Chapter 9I picked up Darlene the next morning and we started our day by going to my bank. When we walked in, I asked to talk to the bank manager. When someone called him to say I wanted to talk to him, he immediately got to his feet and came running out to meet me. “Ms. Howell! William Norton, our president said you’d be in to see us. Welcome. Come on in and sit down.” The sign on his door read Richard Maxwell, Branch Manager.
