Chapter 10I wasn’t about to waste time, so I went to visit Tony’s parents, just before dinner the next night.
“Mrs. Newton! Hi,” I said when she answered the door. “I’d like to talk to you and your husband for a moment if you have the time.”
“Of course, Ms. Howell. Tony didn’t do something wrong, did he?”
“Oh, no. Of course not, but I’d like to give him something if you and your husband will agree.”
“Well, come on in. John is in a den watching the news on TV. I’m sure we can disturb him for a minute or two.”
She led me into the den, where Mr. Newton was indeed watching TV. When he saw me, he turned the sound off.
