Chapter 13When the fence was built, we had to transport everyone to the new sanctuary. I called a horse farm near us and asked what I’d need to transport three donkeys, three cows, six cattle and a buffalo the fifteen miles across town. The manager, a Joe Robinson was pretty confident he could do it until I got to the word buffalo. “Whoa, Ms. Howell, I’m not sure about your buffalo. I understand they’re quite unpredictable and I don’t want any of my men hurt.” “Well,” I said, trying not to laugh, “Beau is an old gentleman. I can handle him quite well. He’ll mind what I tell him to do. Perhaps I can ride over with him and the donkeys. They get along well.” I couldn’t imagine what Beau would say if he’d heard me saying he would mind me. “I’m not sure I have the right insurance,” he said.
