Chapter 28The next morning I went with Lana to visit the realty manager who was holding the land for them.
“I’d like to introduce Joan Howell, one of our beloved donors who are making this purchase possible.”
He held his hand out to me. “Pleased to meet you, Ms. Howell.” Then he looked at me strangely. “Joan Howell, the author?”
“Yes, that’s me,” I said, returning his handshake.
“I’m very pleased to meet you. My wife has been swooning about your new book that just came out. If I tell her you were in the office today and I didn’t call her to come meet you, she won’t talk to me for days!”
“Well, then, Mr. Tipton, perhaps I could give her an autograph to save you the trouble.”
“Oh, would you? I’d be so grateful.” Then he turned to Lana. “Is Ms. Howell one of your angels?”
