Elena listened to me, her face a picture of intent and care. She sighed and gasped as I spoke, but in the end she said nothing. She sat there next to me, brow furrowed, eyes fixed on some point on our desk I couldn’t see. It drove me nuts, not knowing what she thought, but I waited. After a while, she turned to face me and opened her mouth to say something.
