"What is this place?"
My mom had us stop in a town just outside of Sapphire Rock's territory. She insisted that we rest somewhere safe, so I didn't argue and allowed her to lead the way. Now, we were standing outside of a cute bungalow.
"It's a rest stop. I used to stop here when I would visit Braden. I'm pleasantly surprised it's still here." She smiled as if a distant memory warmed her heart.
"Oh ..." I wasn't sure what else to say. It felt extremely awkward to talk about my mom's love life. I couldn't imagine being rejected twice, getting pregnant, and having to settle. My heart ached for my mate. I don't know how I would've handled a rejection.
